How To Wear And Conceal An IWB Holster by Alien Gear Holsters

Wondering how an IWB holster works? We specialize in comfortable concealed carry, and can certainly give you the skinny on how to wear an IWB holster as well as carry.
"IWB" stands for "inside the waistband." In other words, you tuck it behind the waistband of your pants. This makes it easier to conceal as your shirt can cover the gun and the holster, either draping down if you don't tuck in your shirt or - provided the right design of holster - can be tucked over the gun and holster if you do tuck your shirt into your pants.
The best method for deploying this type of concealed carry holster is to unfasten the belt and undo the waist button on your pants. Slide the holster behind the waistband and find the position you want the gun to ride at. Secure the belt clips by sliding them onto the belt or fastening the belt loops if you carry with loops.
Once your waistband holster is secured inside the waistband, you insert the pistol into the holster until it's fully inserted. Cover with your shirt by pulling it down and over the holster and gun, or by tucking it inside the waistband as normal.
Then you conceal and carry!
Make sure to select an IWB holster for concealed carry that is made for your make and model pistol, so good retention of the pistol is ensured. Make sure that you select a holster that is comfortable to wear, or else you will either find reasons not to carry or have to buy one that is.
Try selecting clothes that fit loosely to ensure adequate concealment. An IWB holster will add about another inch or so to your waistline. You may need another size up of pants. If you wear slim-fit shirts, you may need to size up as well. However, your mileage may vary.

I received my starter kit and was showing my brother the inside the waist slightly forward of my back pocket. It was absolutely concealed. He just carries his small .380 in his front pocket as he said he couldn't get used to a holster. I told him that he needs to try this one. I forget I have it on. As we were sitting at the dinning room table I said say someone kicked in the front door. I drew my Glock 19 from my holster and and pointed it at the door. (It was unloaded with the magazine out) and he mentioned wow you drew that fast and your sitting down. I then realized that it can be drawn sitting down. i haven't heard anyone mention this in any video that I have watched. I love this holster

Sadly I had to return my shape-shift 4.0 for my Springfield xd 40.. I found that the retention was waaay too much, it was very hard to take the gun in and out of the holster, even though the adjuster was backed of all the way.. I'm sure it was because it has the 2 point screw system and the rubber backing of the holster while on the belt caused the the gun to squeeze against the rubber backing even tighter...I exchanged it for the Cloak tuck 3.5 which has the 4 point screw system , and am very happy...thank you Alien Gear for your products and great service..

I currently have a kydex holster for my 3 o'clock carry. It's my first holster and I've had it over a year. But it's not comfortable. Looking for a better option without having to buy several holsters. I'm in the big and tall category. I've lost 40 lbs this year, but I dont think I'll ever get to appendix carry status. The issue I've had with trying 4:30 position, is that the grip prints too easily. Maybe it's my holster. Does the Alien Gear pull the grip in closer to the body with the two clips? I have the same problems as you. Although I don't have an alien gear holster (yet), I find hip carry is the best solution. It tends to hide the print pretty well and it's easy to access unless I'm driving and it doesn't get in the way as much as appendix carry does.

Use the o clips they have. Over time the j clips loosen up. The o clips are great you have to put your belt thru the clips and it prevents sagging. The only time I use the original j clips is when I use the belly band.

@Jonathan L I carry a satin nickle series 70 in 38 super , and while these holsters are Ok , they are not the answer for heavier guns like a commander or a government model , they are simply too heavy and your pants will start sliding down unless you have your belt so tight that it’s cutting you in half , while they look nice , in my opinion, they don’t work .
