You just saved me a trip to the mechanic, I spent about a week poking around the carb trying to figure out why my 82 Toyota pickup wouldn’t idle before I found your video, fixed it immediately. Thanks for the help!

I have a DGA on my MG Midget which has run great since my freind at British Motor Care sent it to me. This spring on the first trip out it fired up and ran great until the engine warmed up. Then it would die at a stop. I asked him about a possible bad gasket or diaphragm and he said that your problem was probably my problem. Trash in the idle circuit. Thanks for the tutorial on pulling the jet! (And cracking it open to check it!) I'll check it tomorrow afternoon and hopefully be right as rain.

Thank you so much. I’ve been scratching my head for weeks about why it won’t idle, I fired the parts cannon at the ignition system and that didn’t fix it but this did. So basic but yet so much drama
@MCFABRICATION Жыл бұрын
Hey Saks so this is just a right idle situation? I took it apart almost completely to change the float level which is SO confusing btw and sprayed it with cleaner, blew everything out, reinstalled it and it starts and idles fine but after I take off and I’m in gear at a light or a stop sign it slowly starts to gurgle and chuga chuga then dies almost like it’s the float level flooding it out…

Vey helpful video, I tried it & it worked very well. My only suggestion to Mitch is to mention that if you have a synchronized weber carb they have 2 idle air jets the one on the pass driver side is recessed. DGES carb like mine hs 2 idle circuits, IE 2 idle mixture screwes, excellent video, thanks Mitch

I bought one of these for a Suzuki Samurai for a Chinese Buggy i have its a direct bolt on. Its a 3cyl Huaihai 800cc. It fires right up but revs at 2500 rpm all adjustments were done per instructions. Pulled off checked linkage. All is good. Any ideas? Down size jets?
@MazdaMitch10 ай бұрын
You just need to check all your linkages and stuff and it's kind of sounds like the fast idle is screwed all the way in.

I've also had periodic issues with such clog in primary idle jet, like once a year, and had to clean the jet out. I lay down a small towel before removing this, in case I drop it. On my 1988 B2200, I added a second fuel filter (an all-metal filter) between the stock fuel filter and my Weber 32/36 DGEV and that's really helped eliminate most primary and secondary idle jet contamination/debris.

The throttle linkage may be too short, or is binding.

Hey what do you think about a weber carb that can idle with the speed screw backed all the way out? I dont have a tach but i believe that it ends up being the correct speed for a 22r, linkage on truck is not holding carb open has good amount of slack
@MazdaMitch Жыл бұрын
Timing could be advanced enough that the idle is higher than normal, also could have a small vac leak
@dillondurham8692 Жыл бұрын
@@MazdaMitch I was thinking the same I tried using some starting fluid at the base and got it to stumble its really close to that open air filter though so I'm not sure yet, timing is set to service manual spec 8 deg btdc at idle, Thanks for the response

What site did you use to get your Weber and manifold?
@MazdaMitch3 жыл бұрын
The intake manifold had it welded up and slicked up. The Weber carburetor got it off eBay from redline and that was 12 years ago before there was a lot of counterfeits online it's genuine thank goodness.

My first time watching. Good content, short and sweet and to the point and Yes I did learn something. However, the problem on my Weber is over idling ... New Weber just installed & after about a thousand miles started to overidle. Any help will greatly be appreciated. Thank you.
@MazdaMitch2 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say. You're linkage may be too tight, it could be a different fuel, weather variations. Sometimes you'll have to keep a screwdriver handy and just get it dialed in over time. Also spray lube all the linkages.

Your videos on this carb have been super helpful, thanks for posting them! I have this same carb on my '81 Honda Civic and up until a week ago it was running fine. Then it started dying when we would slow down to about 15-10 mph. I say this b/c I don't have a tachometer. I adjusted both the idle and mixture screws as I have done before and the car just died and wouldn't turn over. I saw there was a huge gap in the gaskets so I replaced those and now the car turns over, but won't stay running unless you keep your foot on the throttle. So I'm stuck wondering what else could be wrong and what else I can do. Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

So I was having issues with idle and still am but one thing I found is that when I pulled the inlet screen, it was pretty dirty. Cleaned everything up as best I can and the idle is still not great and the one thing I notice is after revving, it slowly comes back to idle.
@MazdaMitch2 жыл бұрын
Do you have a throttle return spring installed so that it'll pull that idle down?
@johnwagner91922 жыл бұрын
@@MazdaMitch Yeah and I can push on it with no effect. I did pull the inlet screen and found it pretty dirty and now I'm thinking some of that got in and clogged up some things. The carb is only 2 years old but I think the tank and all the lines need to be cleaned, I might have to pull the top off the carb and clean it out best I can without removing it. I had issues getting the adapter to seal and don't want to mess that up again. I also did a valve adjustment using the manual and if it's not the carb, I may have an exhaust valve to tight. Hope not!
