Never even considered zinc. Great idea. I tried to bend a piece of brass stock around mine but wasn't flexible enough

I've got a hack that weights the tyre's I'm using plastic 2.2 wheels and 5.8xl Super Swampers let me know if you're interested in how it's added 88grams to each wheel No extra cash spent to do it

I spent $15 on 1/4 oz Wheel weights and added 6 1/4 oz per front wheel and 3 oz per rear and still have 5 1/2 oz of weights left.
