I receive hundreds of comments and messages daily, but the one question I get asked the most is Tanner, how the hell do you wheelie like that? To be honest there is no cheat code or easy way around it, I have been riding since the age of 3 and have put hundreds of hours in practicing wheelies. But I can start you out on the right track and in today’s video I show you 3 EASY steps that with enough practice can help you learn and master the wheelie on pretty much any bike.
Let’s do it!

Excellent advice. I just got a Honda CRF 300L. I am 61 I have not ridden a motorcycle since 1983. But I used to be able to ride a wheelie on a 10-speed as far as I wanted to. When I first started I could only ride one about 5 ft. I would get off the bike and make a mark in the dirt. Then I will try it again sometimes not as far but every time I went a little further I would get off my bike and put a mark in the sand. It went from 5 ft 7 ft 10 ft 15 ft 20 ft obviously this took a lot of practice. Then from 20 ft to 25 ft 30 ft 40 ft until eventually I can ride one as far as I wanted to. But what I'm trying to say is Gage your success. Without a mark in the sand you have no idea if you are improving or not. And this goes Way beyond riding a wheelie always gauge your success. Without keeping track of your success you never know if you were improving or not. The only thing that got in my way of improving riding a wheelie was my mother. Constantly bitching and complaining that I was going to fall and get hurt and cost her money. But you know what I didn't listen to her I just kept pushing forward. In other words don't let people drag you down. Because they will so the lesson for the day gauge your success do not let people drag you down. Because they will suck the life out of you..... Now y'all get out there and start riding wheelies.

Excellent content just one point .people tend to lean forward to prevent flipping over.this makes wheelie twice as hard , very narrow balance point buy leaning back you create this big V You on one side the bike on the other now imagine a vertical line from the axle right threw the center of the v Think about it Dick Nelson

He also had a drive assembly to the front wheel to give a gyro effect to help with side to side balance.. i,m 63 now and have lost the skill...

How many fingers do you have on the clutch? Or how do you grip the bars vs clutch? I have a 250L with stock levers. And I’m use to having 3 fingers on the clutch from my 600cc bike having a stiffer clutch. 1 finger feels weird. I tend to switch between a couple fingers to one finger trying to see what feels best. But I also feel like I’m pinching my fingers. On the between lever and bars. So I end up having my left hand closer to the bar end because the lever is bending outward there. But then it feels weird cause I usually have my hands in on the bars when riding normal... i mean im only pulling baby wheelies right now and by that I mean... 1 foot off the ground at most lol but I’m trying !! lol.

Very informative video many thanks. I have mastered stage 1 (short power wheelies) but at age 55, I'm a bit scared to progress to Stage 2 and 3 on my Husky 501. My original goal was to be able to lift the front wheel over obstacles on the trails. I've mastered that skill, but now its time to progress to stage 2 and 3, ie longer wheelies at balance point. Your advice makes a lot of sense - ie. do a lot practice and build up skills slowly, practice on a smaller bike, practice on grass, wear full protective gear, and tap that rear brake 100's times to build up muscle memory, before going up into the true balance point. Cheers

I purchased my first bike last year (crf450l). After allot of wheelie practice I started getting a little too comfortable and looped it 3 weeks ago. The bike is ok, just bent the bars, scraped the exhaust, foot peg and bent the license plate bracket into the taillight. I got back on the bike and rode it home but I got some good road rash and broke my left wrist. Now I'm out of work for 6 weeks but when I'm healed I'm jumping right back on.. moral of the story, my rear brake control needs improvement lmao..I had a full face helmet on and a good pair of alpinestar gloves which saved my hands.

I tried sitting back and popping the clutch with lots of throttle in first and just felt like my shoulder was going to pop out lol. I even tried power wheelies with sitting back and hard full throttle with no lift. I seen guys power wheelies first and second with the rally so I know it's possible. I can't figure out where I'm going wrong. And another question. If your upright and basically hanging of the bars how do you not whisky throttle ?. I even see people let go . How the heck are they holding on lol?.

Best tutorial yet!..........I'm 65 now and no longer have the coordination to do wheelies like this. But I do like watching you do them for sure. In the olden days of my riding 70's I just needed to bring the front end up to blast through a mudhole. It was easy on a TM250 LOL if you learned when to let off the throttle. But alas my poor CRF250l I must use the clutch to lift it up and clear a mudhole and most of the time I'm doing too much speed and in the wrong gear with not enough grunt to power wheelie over the mudhole. So I slow down and slog through it or go around it.

Thanks for the great videos man! I'm trying to learn how to clutch up, and eventually wheelie, on my 300 Rally. I know it's not the ideal bike to learn this on, but it's what I have to work with. It would be super helpful to have a better view of your clutch lever and throttle in the video to help understand the timing between rolling on the throttle and letting out the clutch. Is it a simultaneous motion? I noticed the first time you clutch up in 1st in the video you give the throttle a couple blips first, and then a final one when you pop the clutch. Is there any delay at all between that final blip and popping the clutch?

So Tanner, how 'bout wheelieing the overweight 282 lb Honda XR150L Dualsport bikes? We're presently building one with a 200cc kit & cam, & putting it on a serious diet. Presently have it down to 259 lbs w/full tank of gas, & shooting for 250 lbs. Bike is incredibly quiet & vibration free (counterbalanced engine, unlike the CRF 230F & L bikes). With 25% more displacement, it has a whole new complexion in the power & torque department, pulls 3 less teeth on the rear sprocket, & hits 71 mph. What are your thoughts of wheelies on this bike...? Also the KLX 140L series bikes (small, medium & large sizes)...? CIAO!

What are you saying 11:50? "You gonna foolen the clutch"? What switch is on? 2 or 3? Do you press the clutch and release it fast or what are you doing? Thanks

Best video out there for how to do these types of wheelies. I can't do balance wheelies but can power wheelie well. Good point about starting this technique on a small bike. I am afraid to use the clutch however after ruining the clutch basket on my dads bike when I was a kid by popping wheelies on the street. The steel plates "notched" the aluminum clutch basket so the plates could no longer slide in and out smoothly. It was a 1973 Triumph TT500 twin. Honda clutches are probably tougher though.

What about wheeling a Monkey? Do you still have your Monkey?

Just put deposit on 1 monkey yellow (if can't get red) it reminds me of being 15 on mates HD50. In Australia after November can't get new bike road legal as it needs abs Front and rear. I just got caught speeding 6months suspension but starts in a fortnight. I'm on impound list so I don't want to lose the 300L

Do you have one. Would you buy one new and would you buy again if you went back in time? Thanks. $7065 Aud my crf300l $8700 (cheaper now) and that's why I'm wondering is it worth the cash?

@@jamesgeorgevellavella1961 Yes I have a 2021 Red Monkey. It’s a blast. I had a Grom before the Monkey. The Monkey is way more comfortable and looks cooler.
