Moto whips are definitely a trick. Personally I think they are more steezy than the table whips some riders do. Tables are sick, don't get me wrong but a really clicked whip is just so bad ass. Glad to see you are doing better after those wasp stings!

Thanks Paul! Moto whips are my #1 too.

Always raced moto and enduro growing up (ridden dirtbikes since I was 3, moto since I was 7 (25 now)). I just got into dirt jumping again after 8 years without a bike. I feel like a kid again, just way more flowy and big jumps aren’t scary anymore for whatever reason 🤷🏻♂️😂 was teaching myself whips at the pump track earlier and turns out my whips on a DJ are naturally just turndowns/scrubs. My rear wheel scrubs off the lip nicely. Gets my pumped since I consider myself a beginner again.

I think it depends, for me at first it was a trick, but then becomes so natural, its hard to jump without one (not necessarily moto, but some kind of whip). but when you're really trying to push that angle, definitely a trick :) also, nice video, looking forward to the table whip tutorial

A super flowy, styled out whip is one of the hardest TRICKS!!! Here’s why...for one, the fact that people say it’s just apart of style proves the point of it being super difficult!! If it’s not a trick then why did he call it a “moto whip”..? Cuz it’s different than the “table whip” that was mentioned!! Proofs in the puddin’ Billy Bob. Why I like it so much is how you can put so much of your own sawce/style into it!! It’s a trick that is more LEARNED and not taught! Hahaha that question always gets me! Sorry about the rant everyone. It just puckers my pecker a bit

What would be the smallest jump to try a whip because there are some jumps I’ve done that I feel like I could but I don’t know if u will have enough time to think.
@MarkMatthewsMTB4 жыл бұрын
I would say like half the size of the jump in this video if you're not comfortable with stuff this big. That will be just enough air time to get a hang of it.

Little tip: while ur learning this on a smaller jump it helps if u do kind of an small table top at the lip and than start the whip movement😉

True, gotta start somewhere! This video is catered towards people who already have solid jumping skills but you're making me think about more beginner lessons.

A real key here is 2:37 look at his body position. You're gonna have to learn how to do that before you can do a steezy whip. It takes a huge amount of practice to learn how to pull back and boost a jump. People learn how to hit jumps like a hunchback and then think next up is whipping, no. Learn how to jump first.
@MarkMatthewsMTB4 жыл бұрын
Rafe Maxwell that is very true!! That’s why I emphasize preloading so much in this tutorial. A solid boost and staying relaxed and upright is key to whipping this way
