Thank you so much for this video. 22 years in corrections, 13 as a Sergeant. Direct Supervision facility meaning my Officers are face-to-face with prisoners, no weapons (only radio). This is a very likely scenario if attacked by a jail inmate, and I am hoping they'll have the mindset that they CAN escape and they WON'T surrender. I've previously thought about a survival technique in this position involving the interlocking of fingers, then elbows up/hands behind the head to absorb strikes. Forearms cradling the head and, if opportunity presents itself, bringing interlocked hands back from behind head quickly to hit attacker. Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought that interlocked fingers in this position would give advantage. But, I'm no instructor & welcome all good ideas to practice.

Total agreement about mistake in trying to engage attacker. I think escape should be priority. Distance. Good video !
