I havent played Vetguard for 2 years now and I had 2 games under my belt in total. Yesterday was the 3rd vs. Kommandos on ITD. Thanks to your vid, I managed to wombo combo a victory 18 to 13 vs. the orks and the MVP was the demo man, killing 3 orks and himself. The Hardened vet shrugged off 8 wounds out of the 13, and lived and I maxed all secondary tacops, the in Death Atonement to keep melee operatives in melee, screwing up their activation... CHEF'S KISS! The most important statement in the video is "if your opponent doesn't understand what the demo man does, you have won the game". That is 100% true. After my opponent painted himself into a corner, setting up the mass murder of his own troops, I told him 3 activations prior what is going to happen. He could not do anything to prevent it, even set 2 models into Guard to cover the firing angles to shoot my demo but thanks to a 200IQ low key LVO barricade placement, nobody could shoot him before he killed himself and 3 other orks. GOLDEN. Keep up the good work!

"I don't put much stock in win rates in KT, the sample size is too small" THANK YOU! Drives me crazy to see community members trying to do DS on kill team data when the numbers just aren't there lol. Also I've just stopped taking the rosary when I play vet guard because the emotional damage of forgetting about it until 2 activations after yhe weilder died is too much to bear.

The fact that starter set kill team (granted vet guard need a 2nd box) is still top tier (even avter kommandos nerf) os a testament for both vet guard amd kommandos, hell vet guard never got any changes aside from FAQ and some errata

Im trying to start playing kill team and i like the vet guard so much. Which box do u recommend to star with, considering your operative choices? I mean, the octarius box and the vet guardsman stand alone box, both will allow me to assemble your basic list? I understand that i will need an aditional box for the 4 extra troopers, but im looking where to start first. Im totally new to kt and wh40k in general, so your guide was very helpfull! Great and detailed explanation man!!

Welcome! I think a great starting point can either be to get the Veteran Guardsmen box and get two of them OR grab the Cadian Shock Troopers box with the upgrade box, since that upgrade box comes with enough stuff to make a Vet Guard team, just themed differently. Good luck!

What do you think about giving a rosary to the demo vet instead, so it can better resist grenades which don't care about conceal? I haven't played the vets yet but it sounds like it might be a good choice, or is sergeant survivability more important?

Since the demo vet doesn't need to see any enemy operatives, you should be able to keep him safe until he does his job, unlike everyone else. He has a huge threat range, so you don't need to be that risky with his positioning. Sergeant, with 8 wounds and often fighting in melee, needs it more.

You talk about the Demo Vet being the centre piece, but how are you keeping it alive? You mention being able to perform its abilities again, is it normal to have it stay alive more than one turn? I've only played a handful of games so far but I can count on two fingers how many times my models have survived being shot to take another turn. They die from a strong breathe of air it seems like. Being new I could totally be missing something too.

It's less the fact that you'll be able to use his ability again and moreso the fact that, even if you do a huge blast with him, your opponent STILL has to worry about him and delete him before he does it again. They can't just ignore him after you pull it off.

Fair enough. Scouts, seem underwhelming to me, but will be curious how people will get the most out of them given the new terrain. KASRKIN haven't been as terrible as people seem to think either. They just got... more consistent. Plus the ignore obscuring on BD by the recon trooper adds some unique ways to present threats. @@VentrueMinis

Not really worth it, imo. One box is pretty rough for Vet Guard. Maybe proxy as Kasrkin? 🫡

let me ask, can the comms guy give away 2APL(signal) per turning point or is the unique action signal only allowed once per turning point ? buffing the demo with +2apl should not be possible right ? But giving away 1APL for another team member is possible ?
