Great stuff again. I appreciate how you don't edit out games you're not happy with. Also, with regards to the theme of the series, the games show how to win, even if on occasion it's your opponent, or when the position gets to the point where one should see a draw as a win. As much as those may hurt, they are instructive; maybe sometimes even more as you can explain what you were thinking, and what you missed, when the game goes awry! It's all part of the plan after all. :)

I'm like 90% sure that the 1500 had no idea that c4 had any tricks, and about 75% sure that the 1700 didn't see the trick after h5
@Bettor.ProfitsАй бұрын
The C4 trick for whites benefit was obvious that the next move was a pawn push with a discovered check , winning the Queen. I’m close to 1500 and I saw that move in half a second. However, seeing why C4 immediately lost the game for white, wasn’t obvious. The only winning move for black is the move Levy played. Black gets like a +4 advantage and just wins the game at Levy’s level. If not, white wins the black queen on the next move.. just completely winning the game on their end.
@yanair20919 ай бұрын
@ 1:34:48 I understand it would be great to take black's white square bishop, but why not exchange it for knight, instead of Levy's excellent light squared bishop?

At 1:39:31 I think your opponent had a nice idea to play pawn takes knight f6 and after QxQb3, the opponent can play pawn f7 threatening Rh3 mate. You would still be winning but you would have to sac your bishop on f6 to allow whites king to escape to g7( if RxBf6 then white can play Re1+ leading to mate. If PxRe8 then white can take back with rook and be up the exchange). Good luck on becoming GM levy!
@Gabscrazyy9 ай бұрын
37:00 If you gave a check with the queen before taking the rook wouldn't it have been a free rook?
@epicmeister978627 күн бұрын
33:44 I’m still new in chess, but why wouldn’t you want to fork the queen and rook? Wouldn’t it put pressure on the queen making it move away and then you’d be able to take rook with pawn.
@pashkinzon9 ай бұрын
At 37:02 I think there is a forcing line to win a rook with the Qa2+, which doesn’t take too long to calculate. I might be wrong, but it seems like the king can be pushed away from protecting the rook, which in few moves would be taken at e2 by the queen. I gotta run the engine to check that
@pashkinzon9 ай бұрын
Yup, I was right, the Qa2+ move here is the winner. The line actually is even more brutal with the checkmate being delivered: 34... Qa2+ 35. Re2 Rf3+ 36. Ke1 Qa1+ 37. Kd2 Rd3+ 38. Kc2 Qa2+ 39. Qb2 Qc4+ 40. Kb1 Rd1+ 41. Qc1 Rxc1+ 42. Kb2 QC3+ 43. Ka2 Ra1# Still, Levy showed an instructive trade that leads to a winning endgame. Thank you so much for the content, your chess helps me see such lines ❤

27:30 if you would’ve taken the pawn at b4 you lock down either two rooks or a queen and a rook. I think it’s a good move because it applies pressure and usually that leads to poor decisions.

Levy you’re still a truly wonderful coach. Would love to see some more common openings, like just play the open Sicilian instead of a3. Titled players never want to get into a theory battle with lower ranked but those are the lines we the viewers see and play so much and would be helpful. A bit more E4 E5 to see all the Italian and Spanish and scotch lines. Thank you for what you do.

Not too long ago I remember hearing some refer to Levy as "GM candidate" instead of 'IM'. The way he is announcing this game makes me think he is pursuing a GM title! He definitely deserves it in my eyes! Even if he doesn't get the norm in traditional ways... his understanding of Elo is unique AND warranted! Plus I rather hear Levy commentate a chess game over Yasser Seirawan! With ALL RESPECT TO YASSER!!! I want to see the popularity of chess progress! Levy isn't Magnus or Hikaru or Danya OR Kramnik! Levy is the hero of chess we need right now! GO GM Levy Rozman!!!
