My FLL Challenge team "The 3 Must-A-Coders" favorite core value is teamwork. Not only did they work great among themselves, I think we grew as a cohesive team with students and 2 teachers. I feel like I really bonded with my kiddos because of this experience. Thank you to all those coaches out there! Thanks Zachary!

My students favorite core value is inclusion (yes I asked them) and I agree! We are struggling this year due to Covid and school being closed. It has been a lot of me driving things to student houses for them to practice, picking things up to clean and sanitized, and then dropping them off to another student. They feel that inclusion is important because they want everyone in our class to have an opportunity to participate, so they build, share, I transport, and then they repeat! They would love to add this our materials to build/repeat/share AND include! PS: Your videos have been amazing to share with my kids! Direct teaching via Zoom is hard! Your videos are inspirational to them and to me!

My students told me that, before the competition, they didn't know each other at all. Now they know each others talents AND struggles. They respect eachother more then before, because they went trough a challenge together. They made fun by taking video's and pictures, they ate lunch together so they could practice over noon. I saw them talking and inspire each other with their ideas. I saw them solve little conflicts themselves.. I saw honest cooperation. And by thinking of all this, I cannot tell you ONE favourite core value, because they work like a chain... But I do agree that the most important category is this one. It's awesome to see them grow like this! Thanks for the inspiring video's! See you soon @Cargo Connect!! ;)

Gracious professional. I love that phrase. We are all human and have ups and downs, struggles and celebration moments. I think my favorite way to show grace as a professional is to simply try to understand others and let them be heard. Be there for them and value their thoughts and ideas.

Zachary, thank you for supporting coaches with resources to inspire our students. My favorite core value is discovery. I enjoy when a student has an “AHA!”moment when working on a problem. Inspiration comes from solving problems. Discovery is a great teacher. As coaches we shape the discovery to something the student can use or a skill that will carry them to a career that will make this world a better place.

My favorite core is teamwork because it helps build up the others and it even helps maintain the which is often forgotten but very important for when you need then the most. (I had a tough time recently and my friends from FFL realy helped me)

Zachary, thank you for all of your insight. This is my first year as a coach/mentor after watching my child compete for 2 years, but the rest of his team aged out of FLL. My favorite core value is: Discovery. I have discovered so much this year...much of it thanks to you. Working with my wife and another child's mother, we watched this brand new team of 6 boys truly DISCOVER a lot about themselves and their community as we put together our project and robot. Our team Layton LEGO Llamas place 1st in an "invitational scrimmage" (a limited-access in-person even) and placed 4th in the robot games at the Northern Utah State tournament (all virtual) and in the top 15 in each of the other categories. One thing I really DISCOVERED is that documentation and presentation is key to doing well at the competitions. It was like pulling teeth to get our boys to document their failures and successes. I came across another team's journal of how they would approach every mission before deciding which ones they would pursue for competition. This really helped me to see where our team came-up short, and discovered some definite areas for improvement for next year. I hope you keep your videos here on KZbin. I definitely will still need to refer to them as I continue to learn and discover more about our Spike Prime, name Dave. Thanks again for all your time, effort and assistance. My wife is a teacher, so I know you have sacrificed a lot of personal time to help educate many FLL-ers everywhere.

Innovation has to be my favorite core value. At my school there are students who get good grades without studying and give up when something doesn’t come naturally. Robotics is perfect. In FLL nothing seems to work on the first try. Programs need to be adjusted. Attachments need to be revised. The more you learn about a problem the bigger it seems to get… and that’s normal. It is nice to be able to remind them that it’s right there in the core values. By itself, creativity (or any other gift) isn’t enough. You also need to have persistence. Off topic: I struck up a conversation with a team that was using a slightly modded version of your robot design. They told me how “that guy’s” wall line up technique helped them so much and how “his'' passive attachment saved them so much time. I asked them if they knew how to pronounce your last name because I was pretty sure I was saying it wrong. Turns out they didn’t know either and refer to you as Mr.T. Thanks Mr.T for all of the great videos and inspiring so many students.

I agree with you ... the core values are very important in all types of competitions, not only the FLL, and in fact I participated the previous year, but we were not lucky, the beautiful contest was that I enjoyed it only because I wanted the pleasure of participating only, so I did not feel much sad when we lost and decided to participate Also, this year, I am very excited, and we hope that it is not from a distance, because it is fun to participate and see other teams and so on ..

My favourite core value is innovation. Innovation is critical to the future of humanity and civilisations in general. Innovation is what sets the Homo Sapiens species apart from others. The ability to innovate and to make new and never before thought of things perfectly sums up the whole FIRST program. In FLL teams have to make a innovative and effective robot to complete multiple simple missions in a small space of time and construct a project to help and change the world for the better. I feel that innovation should be and integral part of everyone’s education and future. Society’s that fail to innovate in high levels never succeed and are always lost. This is why in a world where everything seems to be already thought of it is important and critical to find new ideas and to explore old ones. My FLL team has always attempted to innovate in all fields where we can. Even if most of our ludicrous ideas get fully scrapped, some of them become a reality. I feel that innovation is the most important characteristic a human can have, and success is almost dependent of innovation and perseverance.

We are a robotics group from Israel and we are inspired by the videos you publish. The value we love is discovery, because a good idea starts with asking the right question, continues in search of something that does not yet exist, finally excitement from finding a solution or exciting discovery and advancing us to the future. Thank you for helping us with new and interesting discoveries. You are greatly appreciated. Group 873 FLL Israel.

I completely 1000% agree! It’s all about the takeaways and not the trophies! I showed the kids this video at practice today and their answers were: Parker: inclusion is most important to me. I like best that we all work to include our teammates. Hayden: I like that our team doesn’t just say it...we find ways to make it happen. Jaelyn: we are all friends even though we play different sports, are into different things, and have different groups of friends. Man, I LOVE FLL and Core Values! It’s what is most important to me and why I love FLL SO much!
