Ruinburg has several avenues to winning is is completely dependent on your team composition and the tank that you're playing There's no real one set strategy for the map and that's a good thing Now we could discuss the many different strategies that there are for the map but to say that any one of them are better than the other is false because people need to be in their correct positions or the entire team will be overrun, so if you're a heavy tank that is supposed to be brawling the enemies in the city that's where you should be towards the center of the city, if you're a medium tank you have options but choose them wisely. It's not like people can cross into the open so if anything you don't really need to control mid if your team mates are smart enough to not expose themselves to enemy fire down the mid lane. If you are a TD it depends on what your team is doing and what type of TD that you are running (aka glass cannon or front line TD) but TDs can go to any lane on this map and be effective so long as they are not the swede TDs that are limited to using camo and sniping only. This map has a lot of options and is one of my favorite maps to get. In one game I even stole the G1 corner from the enemy team in my 121 and did over 3k damage and allowed my allies to have a strong push helping us win the game by a landslide because I had 5-6 tanks occupied with dealing with me and 4 of them try to kill me and fail miserably and it would have been even worse for them if my RNG wasn't so bad and if I didn't get so many low roll on my penetration (I'm not even joking I couldn't penetrate the frontal hull of an FV202 3 times in a row which is almost all of his HP and he penned me twice in a row and that's all he was getting from me before I put his ass down from full HP). Going to the field in the middle of the map is one of my least favorite positions because people have yoloed me for no reason 24/7 and you are exposed to multiple lanes of crossfire and artillery. It is definitely not my go to spot at all. Edit: Do you see how you are putting side shots into those in the city? That could just as easily be them shooting at you and you weren't paying attention at all, it happens all the time and I blind fire because enemy positions are telegraphable and it's always the same spots so if I know that you're there and I have a shot I will take it and I'm always looking for people who are in the field exposing themselves. Seriously bro, look at how many lanes of crossfire that you're dealing with and how many people are looking in your direction and not firing or people who are just so oblivious that they aren't taking the free shots at you guys in the middle that they have. I'm honestly surprised that you're still alive at this point. You also state yourself that you were so busy dealing with multiple lanes of fire that you can't even get control of the city from that position because you have too much to worry about. I'm not saying that the field is just a bad position in general but it has so many risks that I don't think are worth it. Also you state that there was a lot more that you could have done. Are you sure about that? You were occupied for a reason right? What about all of those bounces that could have been penetrations? Or all those people staring at you who did not take the shots that they should have? If you look closely at the gameplay you can see a lot of luck here and people not shooting you when they should because you exposed yourself (some of them were completely out of cover which is their fault but still) Also if they had been shooting gold I doubt they would have bounced most of those shots fired at you, hell the LTTB could have decided to go for a tracking shot to leave you there for the Jag. That would have ended your game and it wouldn't have been pretty. Basically what I'm trying to say is that playing the middle is extremely risky and a lot of the time I don't see it paying off.

Why not shoot HE at his track for the reset? Also remember your kill on the T-95 in the T-34-3? You shot HE under the tank to damage him. I used that in my STB-1 to reset a type 5 and it did little damage, but did reset. I know heat of the moment plays are taken and hindsight is 20/20

I think that in the situation when you bounce ton of shells of this Type 5 you should try to get his track even with HE, a cheap and easy way to reset. By the way Type 5's turret side is probably as strong as it's front so it was risky as you didn't have so much chance to pen it reliably.

Learning to STOP pushing your winning flank and go defend instead seems to be a skills that only people with around 1800 WN8 have. Most people, for some reason, prefer to continue pushing into bad position, getting hammered by camping TDs, instead of defending the base and shooting enemies that are in bad positions.
@contramuffin58147 жыл бұрын
Learning to constantly analyze the situation and adapt is what I think you're trying to say. Because low WN8 players just follow the basic pubby strats, pick 1 side then deal damage, then go defend base if the enemy is capping. But higher WN8 players know the value of the actions they take, so they know to ration their hp and their time. They know when to push, even when it'll get them shot a couple of times, and when to defend, even when it means giving up on a flank. Low WN8 players simply can't be expected to know the nuances of their actions. To them it's just damage = good, hp low = bad. But what do I know? I'm just a silly 1300 WN8. (2117 recent tho)
@emperror857 жыл бұрын
In a sense, yes. In this case I was thinking of a very common bad play that 90% of players do: to keep pushing your flank when you're about to cross an open field protected by TDs. For example like when you've won the south west corner on Swamp, won the west on Abbey, the city on Highway, the east on Redshire, and so on. 90% of the players would keep pushing after winning those positions, and then pay dearly when the TDs start to get shots. Why not just let those TDs remain useless campers for a while? They CANNOT hurt your team as long as you don't drive in to them. What good players do is this: 1. If the other flank has already lost, you're already too late to push and counter cap. Go back and defend the base. I've even done this in TOG, so literally no tank in the game is too slow to go back, you just need to start heading back earlier. Players in the 1100-1800 WN8 range do usually go back eventually, but all too often only after the cap counter has started, and that's waaay too late to start going back. 2. If your other flank has won, WAIT for them to be in position to have shots on the camping TDs before you push. At this point taking hits is fine as long as your team mates can hurt them back. This also keeps the enemy campers useless for an extra minute.

Hi Lemming, can you please do a video with several examples when to retreat from flank or when to stay and fight? And explain why you do it. I find it a little difficult when to retreat or stay. Thanks :)
@contramuffin58147 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the situation. The thing that many mediocre players forget to do is constantly consider what the best course of action is. You should first of all determine where the enemy is. Any orange-yellow player can do this. They already know from experience where heavies are most likely to go, where TDs are most likely to camp, where LTs are most likely to scout, etc. Then it's really just a matter of figuring out what the best option to take is. Consider if you want to push into a known sniper's nest or fall back and defend, or find somewhere else to flank. Most pubbies will just run right into the sniper's nest because "there's no one lit in the nest!" and take severe damage, just to root out 1 or 2 TDs. It's totally not worth it in hindsight. That's just because they forgot to consider other options. Pick any of the other 2 options and it's almost certainly going to turn out better than if you rush a sniper's nest. So it's really a matter of thinking ahead and considering the consequences of the actions you'll take. In this video, Lemming was faced with the option to push forward and the option to fall back and defend. He determined that there was a Caern who was full health, camping base. In typical situations, the best course of action is to push into their base. However, he noticed that the Type 5 and his buddies are pushing through city. So if he goes back to defend base, he's giving up on the flank, which means the enemy might surround him. But he'll be able to reset base and buy some time. Plus, the Caern was camping. He clearly can't be expected to push up to save his life. If he pushes, the Caern will buy enough time for Type to complete cap. So faced with the options to push forward and defend, pushing forward will lead to certain loss, while defending doesn't. So Lemming decides to defend. Source: Was once a stupid pubby, now am a less-stupid pubby

@contramuffin58147 жыл бұрын
Generally what I do (though I'm a coward LT main) is consider the game in terms of early-mid game and late game. In early-mid game, I try to fight if I know that I'll come out on top. It's very situational, but it also ties into the whole "consider the consequences" thing I was talking about. Generally, if there are at least 3 enemies around the corner, I'll try to relocate, no matter how many friendlies are with me. That's because no matter how many allies there are, there's no way to get every enemy to look away and no way to keep track of when all the enemies are loading. So the way I see it, if there's an abundance of enemies, every time I pop out, I'm guaranteed to get shot at least once, and my own shot might miss or bounce. No way I'm coming out on top in those situations. I'll relocate. If instead there's only 1 enemy, I would wait until he's distracted or until he fired. The thing about trading is that in order to play well, you have to assume that your own hp is worth more than the enemy's. If he's dead-set trying to shoot me, I might try to trade a little, but most likely I'll try to relocate or at least go unlit to get him off my ass. If the flank is falling (and this should be fairly obvious), run. Always. You will never come out on top in these situations. The only issue with this is that you have to start running when the flank is BEGINNING to fall. If the flank already fell, it's too late. You're stuck there. To determine when a flank is about to fall, you have to take a look at the positional advantages of your team and theirs and the number of tanks on your team and theirs. For example, if a flank revolves around a vital position, and the enemy has captured it, it's time for you to run. You can't afford to wait until your team starts dying before you start running. Late-game, I find, is a bit different. Late-game, you can afford to spend more of your hp, and this is when your stock of hp really starts paying off. Because if you have high hp in late-game, you can afford to rush and be very aggressive. If you have low hp, just play safely. So basically, the idea is just that you have to make sure that when you invest your hp, you reap damage that's greater than what you put in. If the marginal benefits is too low, just play it safe and relocate to flank or run. I would suggest starting here to get your situational awareness up: if you know you can't pop out without getting hammered, you're in the wrong location. I find that most pubbies aren't actually lacking in skill, they just simply forget to consider their options. So if they're at a corner, they'll just sit there and trade until the corner is won or lost. They forget to consider that there may be better positions elsewhere, or that they could flank. So when I started learning situational awareness, I just started off with thinking, "If I'm stuck at a corner, and I can't pop out without getting hammered, I should try going somewhere else."

Hey ! What do you think about the changes of M46 and M48 Patton ?
@pavelp807 жыл бұрын
M46 is bullshit ... well perhaps not. This medium is arguably best classic medium on it's tier for years (it might be E50 for some players). When it was made HD it got significant camo nerf and not so significant accuracy and gun handling buffs. Somewhat later half of the other tanks got gun handling and accuracy buffs (heavies, leotard) and few months ago it was indirectly nerfed by improving tier 8 heavies and adding fast autoloaders that can farm late game damage better. I would say it does not need armor, cause it's played to minimal exposure, but reverting camo to original value (so it can't be outspoted by T-54 with bad view range, but far better camo) and decreasing penetration drop over distance so it at least can pen broad side of Maus at 500m would be nice. But buff is needed only when they want to keep it as best medium on the tier, not because it's worse than wz-120 or type61. Tier X Fatton is weird animal which has no strengths, it seems awkward to play, but despite this, it is as good damage dealer as CenturionAX. Maybe because it's best at fast target acquisition and when someone to shoot at appears out of sudden it does not have problems with lack of gun depression, turret traverse or aim time. On the other hand when it's caught on open, it has better surviviblity than CenturionAX due to troll armor that works completely randomly. Anyways, after buffs ... what are the reasons to play CenturionAX or STB ?

no it's not, you just don't know what you're doing, in fact, mid isn't even that influential, if you don't give enemies shots on you in the city then they are sitting ducks and there are tds sitting at the back preventing them from pushing over On the other hand you can't push the other side because they have more cover and TDs sitting in the back Also overall you have to expose yourself 24/7 to play mid and just like you can shoot at people in the city guess what, they can shoot at you too. Overall I find some of the city positions to be a lot more problematic like the one side getting the window to use on the 1 line is OP as[edited] if an STRV uses it. Just call your game done because not only will you not spot it, it'll also pen you just about every time and the chances of aiming and hitting it (and not bouncing off it's stupid bull shit armor) are very low. You can also be extremely influential in the city. From what I've found from playing this map is that winning the middle provides nothing worth taking. Either way you have to push into TDs and get shot at from people in the city who are actually smart enough to pay attention. Many people get wrecked there and I also make sure that they do. On the other hand usually if you win the city you actually win the game because you control 3 separate routes and all of them have plenty of cover to use against those in the field which puts them at a disadvantage. You can even choose which route you want to take without being spotted most of the time making it all the more advantageous, or flat out turtle forcing the people from the field to expose themselves when they have little to no cover.
