What type of antifreeze? Car antifreeze? Thank you!

It is RV or plumbing antifreeze. It is differnt than car antifreeze although I imagine car antifreeze would work if you were in a pinch but it is just way more expensive than plumbing antifreeze.

This is a long answer, basically I blow the lines out as well as suck out as much water as I can from the system. The pump will of course have some water left in it. Next I flood the lines in the hot tub with plumbing antifreeze. Since the pump is in the lowest part of the tub the antifreeze goes to the bottom and mixes with any remaining water. I have never had an issue before and confirmed with the hot tub dealer this is how their techs do it as well. In this tub I can get close to 10 litres (2 of the big jugs) of antifreeze in the system so I am pretty sure the system is as flooded with antifreeze as I can get it. The first year I thought I might need to disconnect the pump and drain it that way which is a major job and in my case difficult to access but I was able to confirm just flooding the system with undiluted antifreeze works perfectly fine. Just make sure you fill the system until it won’t take anymore! 👍

thank you. also, at how low of a temperature out side can you do this ? it’s around +4 in the day and -7 at nights, is it still ok to winterize it? I think is should be, just asking

Yes as long as it is + temps you should be ok. If it is hitting-7 at night you will want to get on this asap as you don’t have much time left. You are running a risk of a frozen pump right now so do it asap!

Just make sure you are not using non-ethylene antifreeze or the ethanol in the antifreeze will dry out o-rings and seals.
