Hey Steven, a fellow Illinois resident here, another tip I learned to keep the mice away is to buy cheap and as smelly dryer sheets as possible and scatter them all around the walls of the garage or wherever you store your scoot and also stuff them all over your bike, mice stay the hell away and it makes it smell better in the garage !!! Lol Happy riding !! Until spring !!

Hey man great tips! Id rather smell that than moth balls I think someone suggested ...my shop could use some "smell good" for sure haha! We have a mouse cat so I never worry about it but man I have seen them do some damage! Pretty much done with winter already...snow in November? gonna be a long one man

I feel for you fellas that have to go through all that during the winter. Down here in the Deep South it’s riding weather 24/7/365 unless there’s a freak ice storm. But that’s a once in 20yrs occurrence. As a matter of fact it was 80° yesterday and we had the a/c on. You boys just hang tight. You’ll be able to bust out the scoots in another month or two...*giggle*. Great video by the way.

Awesome tips. I put my bike in my walk in basement for winter . In the spring I get it out as early as possible during our wettest time of year so I put a scrap piece of carpet underneath the whole bike just because concrete floors absorb moisture from the ground ,In my head I think it helps a bit but who knows. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for the informative video. Peace out from Ohio.

Interesting approach to do the 3 point oil before the winter. Another source said “beginning of spring.” 🤷♂️ looking like I’ll be searching for a tiebreaker. Lol Love the videos. Thanks.
@sikbaggersАй бұрын
lots of people do it different ...my approach is used oil has moisture and other contaminates in it and I dont want that sitting in my bike all winter. Another reason is you can check your drain plugs for loose shavings...if you have an excess amount and you think something may be internally wrong you have all winter to fix it. it would suck to be down at the start of the riding season.

I live in Ontario, Canada and have been storing my Road King in my unheated garage for 10 years. I have found spraying the chrome with wd-40 (wd stands for Water Displacement) prevents any pitting from starting as it is cold and damp in garage. Of course it is washed, waxed, fresh oil in all 3 holes and battery tender plugged in. Never had any issues come spring. Wanted to pass on the wd-40 tip and thank Steven for all the great vids. Cheers.

well with the cap off the oil can vacate the crankcase causing some issues depending on how long it was ran...milky white oil though? I dont know about that...Id let that thing drain some more and try to put some heat by it...7 degrees is really cold and it's super thick. I would put some cheap oil in it and a cheap filter,..run it for a bit and change it again...I say cheap because you are just going to basically flush the engine to get that milky white out.

If its normal...ill deal with it...if not...im in trouble!!eh. ps....i hope to god its not the o-ing for the suction side of oil pump. my Indy checked it, when it was first sumping, and siad it was good, but all he did was check oil pressure( which was good) i dont see any traces of him going back into camchest....i could be wrong,idk. just puzzled,ty agian.

no way brother..not harming it at all...just keep some premium non ethanol fuel in there, its a more expensive but you wont have to run sta-bil in it. Dont forget to clean under your bags and side panels when you can. Salt gets slung up in there and that stuff is brutal on your parts. I read a few folks suggested changing fluids AFTER winter. As the moisture you get heating garage once in a while will get in the fluids. What's your take on that ?
@sikbaggers5 жыл бұрын
Hey chad sorry I just seen this comment man it got buried...If you are keeping it in a non climate controlled building or area then yes this is completely acceptable. If its climate controlled then you can do the oil change whenever you want during your down time. This is just to give the users a reference as to what needs done. Mine is climate controlled so I like to knock everything out at once.

What are your thoughts about spraying fogging oil down the cylinders for winter storage?
@sikbaggers2 жыл бұрын
I dont do it and dont thin its necessary..friend of mine did it and all it did was take us longer to get his bike running in the spring. I've owned and stored bikes for 35 years and never fogged one cylinder. Modern automotive lubricants contain enough corrosion inhibitors to protect from corrosion for a single season.

Off topic, I have a 2011 with the electric throttle control. Is there any way possible that I can convert my bike to a throttle cable?
@sikbaggers5 жыл бұрын
I really doubt it as the electric throttle has sensors that relay signals to the throttle control actuator and it all goes through the ecm of the bike. I can imagine someone out there has tried it but I can also imagine that it would take some work to get it done and quite a bit of new parts. Any reason you want to switch back to the cable?
@tbpc15 жыл бұрын
I want to switch back to the cable caz that's just one more electrical problem to go wrong. I knew a guy who's electrical throttle stuck wide open once and it killed him. Couldn't I just switch the ecm to the 07 ecm that is still a throttle cable? Yes it's a 96 cu in motor, but its big bore kit is the 103 cu in

Love your videos and most of the time I agree with you BUT, don’t use stabil, it’s junk! Do some research on these products and you’ll see they do more harm than good, the best way to winterize your fuel is to run it out and replace it with non-ethanol gas. There is no product currently made that will stop “phase separation” (the ethanol separating from the gas) the only way is to use rec-gas. I’ve seen many an outboard motor destroyed because people believe treating the gas is the way to go. Fortnine actually has a great video on this. Hope this helps someone avoid trouble. Thanks P.S. I’m a recovering bikeaholic🤣
