Sparky! Hi! Ok have a dilema ... There's two sets of wires coming from the ceiling with only black white and ground, another set of wires coming from outside ceiling fans / light combo with red white black and ground, and then one more set coming from an outlet with black white and ground, how do I go about connecting all of them? Other words they have to fit into one game box with the two sets of wires are switches for the light fixtures and the outlet is for plugging in a TV inside the house

Thanks for a great video. Are the two hots in the middle from two different circuits? If so is it common to combine the power of two circuits under one nut?

How do I know which wires are the “switch leg” wires? You said “right side, just like yours” but my 4-wire cable is second from the right whereas yours is all the way left…so I’m not so confident the “switch leg” wires will be in the same position as yours either 🤔

Neat video.

Why did you have to flip both switches to turn on light. Should one turn on and other turn off?

EDITED: WASNT PAYING ATTENTION.... I have 2 single pole switches in the box... How would I connect the wires? (Should be simple, but I'm overwhelmed)

Sorry missed ya, if you still need that help let me know. Same concept only red wire not involved.

How about wiring at the other end of the 3 way switch does not have the source coming in only the travelers, but need to have a single pole to another light. I have situation like that in my unfinished basement that I will need to design for...

I'm doing that myself in a 3 gang box. Living room home run into the 3 gang. And a switched outlet, and a porch light. But the 3 way is being fed from another source, since the living room has the maximum receptacles. I need to do a video on that. Because it is kinda confusing.

Also, is there a reason both hot wires had to be combined together with 2 new pieces as opposed to just connecting them directly to each switch?

Yes. I like to eliminate problem areas. You really should not use the actual device for a connection point. It may cause hot spots. Nothing beats a good ol’ wirenut installed correctly. 👍🏼

How to wire a 3-way & single pole fed at same box.

Plus, want would happen if the other switch was at the end of a very long dark hallway.

I thought using the stab-in connections were a no-no?

You're right. They're a terrible connection. One-and-done and gets looser over time. I can literally twist any wire stabbed in back and forth while pulling back and they slide out. Unfortunately, all the electricians in my area continue doing this whenever they use 14 awg NM

Why put pig tails on the hot wire

I understand you're just demonstrating, but please don't use back-stab connections. They're one-time only and get loose over time. Also, they're hard to undo and once undone, the connection is loose and compromised
