Fair play..... I have an old 4 gang switch with only 3 holes per gang...... and the new switch has 4 holes per gang. From this I think I should be able to wire it up with comparable wiring. I already know the destination of the lights. My lights have com 1 way 2 way and loop on each gang instead of 1 2 and L..... Hmm I am guessing L can be loop. Then I can 1 way everything and 2 way connections if required.

Hi, can 1 gang 2 ways switch to be use on a 1 gang 1 way switch? I accidentally bought a 1 gang 2 way switch, tried to fix it, not realising that whenever I switched on room's light, my kitchen' s light cannot be on.as I wasn't aware that kitchen light is linked. Any advise?

Yes it does! If you put the wire in wrong, you will find that your switch position will be inverted! So just switching the wires around will solve your problem

I think your procedure is not safe for beginners. You're testing live wire to find the end of the wires
