I wonder to mount on the lower horn on the wolfgang. A flexible drill head with 90* angle in the rear rout or drill from pickup cavity?
@JOHNNYBGUITARS2 жыл бұрын
I usually use a very long drill bit (around 12 inches) and go in on an angle. Here's a link to a video that I did showing how I do that, skip through the video, it should be near the end. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4iTgJSJmaenps0

I'm getting ready to attempt this myself and I was wondering if, in the third diagram, it could not also be wired using an on/on switch with only 3 terminals: the wire receiving the signal from the volume pot connected in the middle, and then the terminals at either end of the switch leading to the NC and NO terminals of the kill button, and the common of the button leading to ground? Or is there a reason it only works with a 6-terminal switch as you've done? Thanks, and no worries if you can't answer this so many years later

Yes that should work, I guess I was overthinking it a bit.

I wish ONE PERSON would do a video like htis but without a volume knob
@JOHNNYBGUITARS2 жыл бұрын
Are you saying that your guitar doesn't have a volume pot? All the kill switch does is dump the signal to ground, you could just connect the switch to the lead wire connected to the output.
@bellmeisterful2 жыл бұрын
@@JOHNNYBGUITARS Right I removed the Volume pot and have an LED latching button. Not momentary so it'll act as an on/off. I get it to light up but its lit up in both button positions. I get it to produce sound but in both positions OR only when cord is plugged halfway into the stereo jack..grr. I got grounds going everywhere. Its a mess dude. Its two humbuckers, a 3 way toggle and thats it. I never use tone and thought itd be cool to switch out a button for the volume knob cos I never use one thru 9

Have you got a wiring diagram for a standard Les Paul arrangement?
@JOHNNYBGUITARS2 жыл бұрын
Not specifically for a Les Paul but if you connect the switch to the hot wire that goes to the output it should work. All a kill switch does is ground out the signal.
@jameshansing53962 жыл бұрын
@@JOHNNYBGUITARS I’ve looked for wiring diagrams and weirdly very few focus on a standard Les Paul layout. I believe buckethead has 2 kill switches and I was wondering if it had anything to do with “popping” which I have heard about when the kill switch is (dis)engaged/activated to do the kill?
@JOHNNYBGUITARS2 жыл бұрын
@@jameshansing5396 If you go to Tesiswitch.com they have a LP diagram, it's exactly what I talked about in the previous comment. A good quality switch wired properly shouldn't make pop sounds, Tesi is about the best out there.

With diagram 2, could I remove the button and just use a toggle switch to kill the power? Would suit my guitar much better than a button!
@JOHNNYBGUITARS3 жыл бұрын
You can definitely use a toggle switch, it might be a little noisier and not as responsive as the kill switch. As long as you wire your lead to ground it will work.

@@JOHNNYBGUITARS awesome, yeah that was another question I was going to ask was noise while switching! Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I think I'll go for a standard NO momentary switch similar to the ones on kill pedals!

@KISSARCHIVES9 ай бұрын
how would i wire it so that the buttons led turns on when the button is pressed?
@steveweyerts Жыл бұрын
Are you sure? Pretty sure this is backwards. I think it would be wired to normally closed so it has continuous power and then it opens the circuit to stop the power when the button is pushed.
@JOHNNYBGUITARS Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what part of the video you're referring to, I talk about many wiring options. This switch can be wired either normally open or closed, it all depends on how you want to do it. Normally open would require a bypass switch or the guitar would not make a sound until the button is pushed.
@steveweyerts Жыл бұрын
@@JOHNNYBGUITARS I think you may be right. today I put a small killswitch on my guitar. I want this one though. This small one said it is factory open. I just put the hot and ground to the output jack. Works great! I am still going to get the blue lightrd one!

CN anyone please explain.. why is BATTERY GROUND GOING TO JACK GROUND?????
@JOHNNYBGUITARS Жыл бұрын
The negative light terminal and the negative battery terminal are both connected to ground, this completes the circuit. It saves adding a wire just for the light, it might seem strange but try it, it works.

What you call a 6 pole switch is a 2 pole double throw switch. The 9 pole is a 3PDT.

I was going to say the same thing. Thank you. I am not one to dissect someone's video looking for stuff to burn them for, but I see so many comments saying WELL DONE BRO! etc... and I feel like an alien. If I am in uncertain territory I never claim to be in the know, and I don't tell people what an awesome job they did if I can't tell because I don't know enough about the subject. I am like 180 degrees out of sync with the way most poeple digest and produce content. I appreciate anyone sharing, but learn the stuff first right? Or don't present yourself as an expert. Just my thoughts. Thanks for pointing that out! :).
