Great video! Exactly on point! one thing to add... the ground noted above the relay is NOT body ground, it is the ground signal input, which I think most people get confused about. T--}out
@j.m.59953 жыл бұрын
Very good observation sir. I was scratching my head for a sec. Essentially there's 3 ways for the 12v signal from the ignition key to be grounded thereby activating the magnetic coil relay and sending the 12v battery signal from the battery to the fan
@WesternReloader7 ай бұрын
That got me too. I thought ground meant ground, but in this case it doesn’t?

Hello, i have a 89 prelude. Trying to bypass the 4 pin relay with an aftermarket 5 pin so i can still use my original electric fan. The AC compressor had a thermo protection sensor and a pick up sensor. I assume i dont need the trinary switch but how do i wire the relay into the ac wires to work as shown in video

I like to upgrade my fan on my es300 lexus 93. . a double fan will run me about $469.95 a single fan $92.95 I will have to have a professional installation. .this requires lot kit wiring. ..I will probably go with the single fan $469.95 is too much for a 1993..if I do have this installed would it make a difference in cooling my engine much better? these es300 lexus are known to sometimes over heat. .. I know it happen to mine. . I've always made sure everything that works with heat I've been changing them.. timing belt, watt pump, radiator, belts temperature senor etc.

But, what if my car does NOT have an electric fan to cool the radiator and AC condensor. My vehicle has a mechanical fan with a fan clutch, what do I do differently and the vehicle came with AC (air conditioning) standard from the factory but I need to wire-in conteols/switcha for an auxiliary HVAC system that one of the previous owners/operators/drivers cut the switches out of and damaged.

Get a lower temperature switch that way the temp parameter of the fan is lower that way it can turn on sooner.

bet the temp sensor gone bad.. replace it it's located in the radiator, or in some cars it'll be on the cylinder head

Check to see if your controller is adjustable. If so, you'll need to set the temp at which they turn on. You'll also need a corresponding thermostat, ie; 180 degree thermostat = set temp to 180 degrees fan activation.

This is confusing because why do you need a toggle switch when you want your ignition switch to turn it on?
@seangivings76616 жыл бұрын
The ignition switch is power.......it turns on by a ground feed....that's why you install toggle switch so you can turn it on when you want it on instead of waiting till the thermostat ground out by temperature
@ElTexMexAlex6 жыл бұрын
@@seangivings7661 Well the thing is, I only want temp switch to turn on the fans. My belief is that an ECM is not necessary to turn on fans. So what I intended to do is use temp sensor to turn on fans when hot by connecting ground(temp sensor) to pin 85. The problem is that with the key off, the fan remains constantly on. Why i decided to do this? I am tring to bypass the ECM turning on the fans. I am kind of confused when you said "wait until thermostat grounds out when hot" is this what activates the temp sensor to turn on fans?
@ruelborraska18145 жыл бұрын
toggle switch is the optional switch, when the termo switch is faulty during the minimum operating temp of the engine then you can switch on the toggle and the cooling fan will run.
@domingodeanda2334 жыл бұрын

radiator fan won't turn on automatically even coolant temperature reached 110 degree of celsius. trinary switch could be problem?

Is it controlled by the computer? If so, you can look at the LT1 Website, shows how to wire through relay and PCM gives negative signal to start fan when temp is reached.

But the ground signal is ECM controlled so it needs to be cut off from it and pwm signal cancelled hence no pwm at set frequency to the fan and won't work on pwm controlled fan types
