Perfect, valuable information on softening and hardening wire. I probably canceled 100 peices of jewelry over the past 5 years not knowing this.

So essentially: Hammering = compression = hardening Heating = expanion = softening I did not think it was this simple. Thank you for your explaination.

Great explanation of the science behind metals and work hardening. I did not know that tumbling was not a proper way to work harden; thanks! Taking it down to the molecular level speaks to my left sided brain!

Thank you so much for this!!! I’ve been making polymer clay jewelry and ran into a snag with very bendy jump rings. Someone told me about work hardening but I had no idea what that meant. Your video explained it so perfectly and now I should be able to sell necklaces 🥰

Very, very clear and concise explanation of hardening wire! I love it and learned a few new ways I didn’t know about. (Oh, I LOVED seeing you using that new and totally groovy soldering station you showed in Tucson in this video - NICE station). Ok, now I want to see a video on work hardening sheet. I have a difficult time, sometimes, work hardening my cuffs. It seems they don’t always harden easily and are easy to completely deform. Now other cuffs like #1 triangle wire hardens way too easily and takes a while to form due to lots of annealing. Speaking of that, I would love to see a video or annealing really thick gauge wire and sheet too. I know, I have too many “wants”. In short, this video was SUPER helpful. And thanks as always! 👩🏼‍🎨🌵🔨
