Thank you for the informative tutorial. I would like to ask how can I get the number of interface cells or elements killed?

Element birth and death... potential application includes staged construction, in which some parts come into existence (element birth), after some preliminary load steps have already been solved. With a spring, it might model the installation of a spring after some solution steps have been completed. Element death could represent the non-existence of parts of a model during some load steps. The parts of the entire model have to exist at the beginning of an analysis. Some parts (elements) can be killed before the first load step solve, and brought back to life later.

can u explain me this technique in easy terms..i want to know why we use this in welding simulation, why we use in moving heat source,in what way this birth death technique helps in transient thermal simulation?? please.

Is it possible to say: the spring should be deactivate when the springforce/displacement is eql or lager then X? if yes? how I can do it?

I was doing this death and birth analysis on transient thermal for welding of double V joint but my temperature came out to be negative, of value about -873.C although the initial temperature was 22.C Pls suggest something for this

@2sh ar: Dear friend, the negative value of result temperature would probably be caused by the incompatible meshing in your model. Try to use inflation tool or refine your mesh at these positions, you may see the better result. Regards!
