amazing!! I WORK FOR A LOCAL MOVING COMPANY AND GET TO WORK WITH MOVERS LIKE THESE ALL DAY IS PRETTY EMBARRASSING AND UNBELIEVABLE I AM NOT TRYING TO HATE BUT ALL YOU NEED IT TO DO WAS THESE 3 LITTLE STEPS 1. ALWAYS LEAVE THE CUSHIONS ON THE SOFAS, YOU DO NOT NEED TO SINGLE WRAP THEM... 2. PLASTIC WRAP THE SOFA SINCE IS REGULAR OLD FABRIC NOT WORTH MUCH BUT IF IT WAS LEATHER OR MOLE HAIR THEN YEAH PAD THAT SHIT UP NICE WITH 4 PIECES OF TAPE MAYBE 5 INCHES LONG JUST TO HOLD THE PAD AND THEN PLASTIC WRAP..... AND TO FINISHED IT UP STEP NUMERO 3... SET A PAD DOWN ON THE FLOOR OF THE TRUCK BEFORE U BRING THE SOFA!!! AND ALSO FEET AGAINST THE WALL AND THAT IS IT PRETTY FUCKING SIMPLE... IT TOOK ME LONGER TO WRITE THESE BULL-CRAP THEN TO PREP THAT DAMN WORTHLESS SOFA HAHAHA NOT LEARNING KIDDD!!!..... REAL PROS ARE QUICK NO MATTER WHAT DRAPE THE SHIT AND GO YOU WOULD BE AMAZED THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY MOVE FULL HOUSES WITHOUT USING TAPE OR PADS JUST DRAPE THE ITEMS GOOD AND YOU SHOULD BE GOLDEN.....
@JerryGWest9 жыл бұрын
Shrink wrap the top, flip it upside down, fold the skirts back so they don't get wrinkled, shrink them into place, find the frame bars on the sofa bottom and set up two packed dish packs to set the sofa on. This will allow you to pad and shrink wrap the sofa, especially the bottom edges, without stooping or standing the sofa on end.

A little excessive. But, #1. make sure to flip the bottom skirt up! That keeps it clean and avoids wrinkles. #2. When using pads always put the lighter colored side to the furniture. HOWEVER- if someone else is going unload the truck you are loading- some movers reverse the pad on fragile pieces in the load...small, fragile leg tables and the like. That makes the unload crew aware to be especially gentle with those items. I'm surprised you NYC guys don't use a 6.0 or a piece of twin matt carton to "tray" one end of the sofa since it's probably going to have to stand on end in elevator and in the truck as well. It looks like you guys do a good job. Take Care!

Ouch Wish I knew why he did it exactly the way he did it. For us the easiest, most economical, less time consuming, and most aesthetically pleasing way to wrap a couch is to first place two blankets on the floor under the couch Ray's Auto Parts and use a mover's rubber band to fasten the blanket to the couch temporarily, next cover the couch with three blankets top down overlapping the blankets that came up from the floor fasten the top blankets to the bottom blankets at the connection point with a rubber band then use another rubber band to go around the back rest of the couch lengthwise; then use 3 smaller rubber bands to stategucally fasten the thre top blankets crosswise. Now use the cellophane to go around the foot of the couch, then make the couch vertical and go around the rest of the couch. The above method should not be used where you are fearful of color or soil transfer from the blankets to the couch.

What''s with the ignorant comments on this post. I think it took so long because they were just DEMONSTRATING how to properly wrap a sofa. Strongly doubt this was actually done at a customer's home with a person filming it; it was probably done in one of the company's movers home as they were just Demonstrating for Exposure as well as just giving you this free tutorial in kindness. Granted, the amount of tape used was overkill; however, this is the proper way to wrap a sofa to prevent damages especially on Tapered or Upholstered sofas. The only thing we would add is placing paper pads on the bottom of the sofa to protect the thin screen from being poked through. Many customers would rather see their furniture arrive as it left before seeing it arrive with a huge beer and dirt stain due to letting their "friends and family" moving it.

The illustration of the video was to focus on ultimately protecting the furniture by wrapping the couch. Obviously, he may have done in in a slower time as an illustration. As any professional mover knows that on a moving job common sense is not that common! Thanks for sharing!

Most customers, may not understand what entails in a moving job, but there’s more to just picking up stuff and packing it into a truck. We’ve had customers tell us, “don’t worry about it, just load it as is”, only to turn around and sue us for property damage. Careful packaging doesn’t just protects customers goods, but it also protects us and show how trustworthy a moving company can be, as well. 🤷🏼♀️

No it is not necessary there are many situations in which that level of care is absolutely unnecessary however in most cases it is advised particularly for professional moving companies. When the furniture was initially created and sent to a distributor, wholesaler, and retailer it was always in a box there was no cellophane, no blanket, no tape -- in some cases there may have been some plastic but it was likely still in a box. If you're moving and you have to pack up a truck the real estate is limited inside the truck so chances are you're going to have to go up and so things are going to go on top of something else, the more that happens the greater the probability of damage so you want to protect things with blankets, plastic, and or cardboard, you don't necessarily have to do it inside the home you can do it inside the truck however if you have to handle the furniture a lot or if you have to put things in storage it's always better to individually wrapped things.
@MrFinRaZeR4 жыл бұрын
@@TruckTaxiMoveIt i've never packed a couch that excessively an i've worked for 3 years now. Depending on the customer and job description simple shrinkwrap would have been enough, real professionals don't need 5 minutes to pack a couch just to prevent it hitting against walls. On normal movings we just use shrinkwrap and blankets in our truck only since our trucks have paddings on interior walls. The only reason i would pack a couch like that would be for foreign movings (Finland > France/Germany etc.) We use bubblewrap instead of blankets for those.

Not true, alot of people know that it is safer to shrink wrap sofas, beds, chairs, anything a person sits or sleeps on, before wrapping with a blanket. its safer, reduces spread of bacteria, and any discoloration to sensitive fabrics or leathers. it's professional.

Why not use the shrink on the pads. You know tape pulls the threads out of the fabric of pads. A pad should last ten years with daily usage at least. These taped pads only last a year or two before they have loose strings , and holes. This is coming from a professional standpoint. Only problem with shrink is getting caught on door knobs, and banisters: (
@7FigureMovingAcademy7 жыл бұрын
While the couch was wrapped well there are two problems: 1) As noted earlier in comments. It took way too long to get done. The guy didn't need to tape so much. A couple of time around works just fine. 2) What a waste of tape. And plastic. No need to use plastic wrap if you are using moving pads. Wasted time and resources. Lastly, he's slowly destroying those moving pads by using that tape on them.
@Gen3ralGrimReaper6 жыл бұрын
7 Figure Moving Academy What if he was doing long distance? When you’re doing a long distance job it’s safe to use shrink wrap then pads. Most moving company don’t wash their pads, so people’s couches will be smelling like 20+ jobs in 1 week.

@TruckTaxiMoveIt4 жыл бұрын
If you are using top quality genuine shrink-wrap that's all you need however I don't know any movers that using that everyone is using mid-grade cellophane and that's only satisfactory in very few applications in most cases if you're doing more than a two-bedroom move and have a truck smaller than a 18 wheeler you're going to have a lot of furniture in that truck packed in one up against the other so you want to protect the furniture as much as possible even protect the furniture from dirt or ink transfer from blankets -- that's likely why he used the cellophane prior to rapping the couch with a blanket; the generously applications of tape could have been because they were in a walk-up building on the 5th floor in which a lot of handling would be done.

When unloading 5 minutes to unload towards the new place. 5 minutes to unwrap or more, because too much tape. Almost an hour total just for one couch. Too many ideas in wrapping, but the guy worked hard, couch looks nice and tightly wrap. Give him 8 out of 10, because he doesnt smil while on video.

Only a tad, in that he may have used a bit too much tape however the cellophane under the blankets was mainly to prevent soil or color transfer from the blanket to the fabric couch so that particular moving company might be sensitive 2 potential transfer which could more easily happen in areas where it's raining or if you have long term Storage, and or if you expect to be handling the furniture for an extended period Of time like walking up or down numerous flights of stairs which in both cases I would have recommended cellophane the whole couch and using less tape.
