I like that you're using this figure 8 technique. Having worked for tree climbers, ropes were important. And a lot of people just wrap the cord around their hand and we know rope and cord forms memory. So do power leads. I'm no paracord expert though. That's why I need a tutorial like this. Thank you. Every helpful. Less memory. More like the way rope is "splayed" for storage and unraveling without links and knots. Having worked for tree climbers where their life and mine and anyone nearby is literally dependent on the integrity of their ropes, I want a system that will allow efficient storage and deployment of my various cordage. 👍

I'm wrapping my small cordage in a similar way, except that I finish the wrap using a whipping knot, avoiding any half-knot in the process. Keep up your excellent work!

We have been bottled up for a month. Stocked up and doing well. Thankfully our area wasn’t hit too hard. How about you and yours?

If you use several different lengths of rope you can identify them by colour such as cut red rope into 10’ lengths, yellow into 15’, brown into 20’, etc. Keeping a bowline on one end and a toggle on the opposite end allows you to quickly join and separate pieces to the required lengths. I’m not sure but I believe this is something Dave Canterbury used to do.

I made a spool from delrin; 1.5" W x 4" L it keeps 60 ft of 3mm cord for me nice & secure , currently working on measurements to keep 75 ft of Paracord in the same fashion

I thought about making something similar to what you are describing.
