I have been looking for work for a couple of months now, and I wasn't even getting an interview. For the last 5 job applicaitons, I used this cover letter system. I have nailed an interview for everyone I sent. In some cases I was called within 1 hour of sending. So it definately works. In fact all of the jobs I have had interviews at commented on how my letter and cv stood out from anyone elses, and they simply had to interview me. I haven't yet landed the job, but that is really because of other factors not related to me. I am going to a second interview for a job tomorrow, which could very well land me the job. Thankyou so much for this guideline. It is amazing.

let me just tell you, this is the best guide on cover letter I have ever come across on youtube!! I have developed an anxiety for making cover letters due to not getting a job related to my education for the past year which crushed my confidence. And for some reason most of the guides I’ve seen is catered to having plenty of experience or no experience at all, making it too hard to personalize the examples on my own. This video doesn’t seem far off, HOWEVER, you made the guide to help it personalize to our own situations and it breaks down the marketing psychology to really capture a hiring manager’s interest regardless of any position. This guide hands down made me a lot more confident to start and write my cover letter. I will keep an update wether I get an interview with these tips~ A quick question: How would you for example, relate a personal connection with a plumbing or a truck company, that is a bit more difficult to make an understanding or connection.

So, I do think this is a good video packed in with some great advice. I want to mention one thing, however. I noticed that you mentioned this applicant could have easily addressed their cover letter to the CEO of Badass Careers, but cover letters are typically addressed to the hiring/recruiting manager. I completely agree with making the letter out to a specific individual, but chances are, in most situations, the CEO of the company isn't going to be the one reviewing your cover letter...
@BadassCareers
@BadassCareers Жыл бұрын
This is only because Badass Careers is a SUPER small team, so in my case, it is the CEO reading the cover letter! In larger companies that have a hiring team, you would address it to them ✨

The part I always have trouble with is telling them why they're special. I often look at the job listing first to see if it's something I might be interested in. But most jobs I find aren't with companies I even recognize. The only thing to go off is something generic corporate mission statement🙄

I love your tips and videos, and you have a new subscriber! I wonder if listing your core strengths as recommended in this video may be duplicative of your resume, and should be avoided? What do you think?
@stugooden7826

I was thinking this same thing when the example at 7:10 came up. I think this part is a bit too verbose for a cover letter; what I do is use about two of these kind of bullets as a concise summary instead of a list. But I'm no expert lol. But this is a GREAT video!

Hi Rosie, since you mentioned generating honest urgency, could you recommend a way of phrasing this urgency if you're already somewhat far along in the application process for another job? I.E. you've already had an interview. Would you recommend even mentioning other jobs you've applied for?

I think the problem i have is my current role (and past roles) have been very basic, i don't have anything to talk about in a cover letter. I can't say 'i helped my company achieve this and that's why i would excel at this part of the role you have advertised' (or similar)😐

Should you put a job if you only had it for two days? Or if you got fired and quit from? And have no references?
@BadassCareers
@BadassCareers Жыл бұрын
If you were only there for a few days, it's okay to leave that off your resume if you'd prefer. Recruiters nowadays don't often care about career gaps - especially one that's two days!

@@BadassCareers yah but then I’d have no recent experience and isn’t it better to have some experience? You can learn a lot in an hour ? Not putting things on resume shows that you don’t care about working which is not true.

@@JoseRap duh. But what would employers think? That you’re unreliable but if you don’t put anything on your resume then you look inexperienced. Argh I’m just going to go to uni. I want to impress and make a good impression but I don’t have any worthwhile skills. Cleaning isn’t really a skill, but eh the fact that I was even given a job and that I bothered to even apply shows that I care.. and tried. So I think i should. But then again maybe they just thought I got the job cause I’m a young woman.. I don’t want to be given a job just cause I’m a woman. I want to get it cause I deserve it and that I was the best person for the job. I don’t want a job out of pity. That isn’t real.
@JoseRap
@JoseRap 9 ай бұрын
@@Penisrules Put it this way, the CL is a way to sell yourself. and if you say things like "i only had this job for 2 days" it isn't a good look, so I wouldn't include it. However, the job you are applying for: you must have some sort of skill or experience that relates to this job, otherwise the desire to apply in the first place wouldn't be present. It is more common for someone to THINK "i have no experience" rather than actually having none. My advice is to take an inventory of the things you've done, things you are good at - make this into a list which you can then use for your resume and cover letter. My guess is you'll find you're selling yourself short. The very fact you're applying for a job in itself says that deep down you know you have something to offer the job, What you need to do is find out what that is and put it into words.
