I think it's beneficial for small businesses to have a financial plan that adheres to their specific needs /industry. However, I also think this plan needs to be one which can be scaled up (or down in the case of an unforeseen event) that would allow the business to continue daily operations while at the same time adjusting to an influx of business, or a drought.

Its an important thought - and one that we see is so relevant in recent times. Part of a business plan is also scenario analysis and from my times in Risk Management I can say that this part is the most telling when it comes to long term stability.
