And why)(stay where u are add ur gpa average if its good) *Background hist* : (babysiting etc are listed as jobs and experience for ur background) *basically sell the good side of you* Dont wait more than a week after u have applied, call them like "hey i was in an interview earlier (or however long it was id say give it a few hours before calling or checking up because they most likely forgot. Dont go longer than a week)just want to know if i got the job" or go up to the manager "i know we have had an interview not too long ago but i want to meet you and i want you to meet me" make sure you smile and sit up straight, u know how u are fake around people sometimes? After applying online, I have my students take a hard copy of their resume and go in to the place they applied - tell HR or the manager that they've applied online and introduce themselves, say I'm excited to meet you and can't wait to hear from you soon. It's an awesome way to make a connection beyond paper!

Hey great video! I work as a recruiter, so I would advise that individuals include a extracurriculars section to speak about leadership experience from basketball or, the debate team. Recruiters spend on average 6-8 seconds on a resume, so it’s important that the space at the top of a resume is used tactically. Also, people should include metrics or numbers from their experiences. So, number of clients served, customer satisfaction rating, average number of children attended to at a time, etc. Lastly, high school students should prioritize gaining/presenting customer service skills because those jobs are more likely to consider hiring them right out of high school.

Kellie Meyer: I work as a recruiter and recently started a career advice channel, so I wanted to share some additional tips for your students! If they have no work experience, tell them to either plan to start a service type business that summer (lawn care, cleaning, babysitting, etc.) or to volunteer/job shadow with a relative or close family friend. During this experience they should focus on gaining customer experience and work to be able to demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and dedication to a future employer. They should also look to have some numerical results to provide (average clientele size/ number of customers, impact of projects completed, customer satisfaction percentages, etc.). Also, when writing in an experience section, they should think S.T.A.R. Format (situation, task, action, results). Hope this helps with what you’re teaching them!

If you wanted to list something, make it clever. So, if I was a builder I’d put master builder looking to craft your vision. Or a teacher’s would be like “molding young minds for the future”. Basically, you are just restating your craft in a fancy way that will catch someone’s attention

Gaming isn't nice, being comptetive in it proves you have amazing analytical and problem solving skills. The only issue with gaimg is that its public image are people who are extremely addicted to it and never do anything else. You just need to portray it in a professional way, and also highlight that you were good at some certain subjects to eliminate the idea of you possibly slakcing off on the job and gaming instead, Just a hobby that you're amazingly good at. Hi Tim, saw your question! I’m a recruiter for a hospital system, so I figured I’d give you some tips in case you’re still job hunting. In your education section only put your degree, the school you went to, and either a completion date or expected completion date. If you have a high gpa, and honor roll status, you can put that as well. As for your work experience, you should include at least your two most recent positions, but be sure to evaluate how you can make your experience relevant to the job that you’re applying to. Hope this helps!

OliThaDon: Hi Oli, you can say what high school you are going to, and in the years section say “anticipated completion date: 20xx” whatever that would be. That way they know you’re in school and you don’t have to bring up middle school.
