No. Research proposal is all about what you will do during your PhD. On what topic will you do research and what will be its significance. The M.Phil research work just serve as a evaluation base for your consideration in the PhD position.

@@qaiserjabeen5339 Generally university offers two types of PhD positions. In one type, the university give you the specific topic and asks you to write research proposal on that. While in another type, the university will offer you a broad research area and you will be asked to write a research proposal on a topic of your own choice which must come under that broader research area. This varies from university to university and discipline to discipline. How you can write it?? Well first make sure you apply for PhD position relavent to your M.Phil discipline and especially research area. Then if you are asked to write on a topic of your choice then find a topic which is trending currently and find the research problem related to it, do literature review, the limitations and research gap in that literature, what will you do and how it will contribute in filling the research gap, your Aim and objectives, research methodology etc... All the guidelines are given to the applicants in an advertisement (Call) by the concerned university.

@@qaiserjabeen5339 First of all, Choose the PhD position based on your MPhil's Field of specialization and specially research work you did. Now coming towards the PhD positions, there are two types of PhD positions that universities offer. One is based on a specific topic on which you have to write your research proposal. In another type you will be given a broad research area and you will be asked (or generally you directly write) to write on specific topic of your liking that must come under that given broad research area. How can you start writing your research proposal? If you are asked to write on a topic of your own choice, then first step is to identify the current trends related to that topic, Then identify the research problem related to that topic, Do literature review, identify the results and the limitations of those studies i-e,. The research gaps presents in those studies. Then write how your work will fill the gap present in those studies and what will be the significance of your study Write about what are the research questions that will be answered by your research work. Write Aim and Objectives, Research and methodology, plan of work. Add Figures and flow charts. The guidelines about the PhD positions, topics etc are all given in the advertisement call. Make sure to read it properly. This is for the SCIENCE DISCPLINE. Research proposal do vary discipline to discipline and university to university.
