Dr. Taylor, are all abstract written the same way? what are the major questions I should answer when I am writing my abstract? is it possible to write the abstract way before I write my paper? If I am not mistaken, you said the abstract should be one block paragraph with no indentation, am I correct? Thank you so much for taking the time to help us. This is going to be my first abstract on a term paper.. now last question, Are abstracts and background the sane thing? Thank you very much.
@peakdavid10 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your questions. To answer your first question, abstracts are as varied as the kinds of papers they are written for. What major questions: If you're abstracting a research study, the questions are in video above. If it is a college research paper, the areas for coverage would be: issue you investigated, the results, the significance of the results.. Yes, abstract is one block paragraph, up to 250 words. Abstracts and background definitely are not the same thing. Good luck!

Normally there are no references used in an abstract because it is a summary of your own paper. The word "abstract" means "summary." If your teacher told you to make reference to sources that you used in the body of your paper, you should do so. Confirm with the teacher that you are to use APA style.

Thanks for your interest. I recorded PPT first. Then I filmed myself against a green screen. Then composited the two tracks with a video editor that removes the green screen (chroma keying), and rendered out. Lots of videos here on YT about green screens and chroma keying. Good luck!

I have a question. My professor wants me to create an abstract before I start my paper however I’ve always done my abstract last. I’m freaking out and he wants me to present it to my class. Please help
@peakdavid6 жыл бұрын
You are correct--the abstract should only be written after the final paper is complete. But I think he wants you to use writing the abstract as a form of pre-writing or outlining. This is done occasionally. Writers often have to turn in a precis or summary of something to get approval before actually writing it. Just follow the guidelines above and know that you can change the abstract before you turn in the final draft.
@tashanatural99836 жыл бұрын
David Taylor I think that your right in terms of approval because he wants us to go step by step so that by the end of the course we’ll have an A paper. Thank you so much for the quick response. Very informative video 😊

Hello There Sir, I went through your video and found it highly beneficial. I have a query to ask that what should I talk about in the initial paragraph of the abstract. I can to begin with the problem statement. So, what should be there in the initial lines? Should there be topic introduction or the objective of the research? Kindly instruct me regarding the subject being asked. Heartiest Regards, Alizay.
@peakdavid7 жыл бұрын
Hello, Kinza, thank you for your excellent question. Here is an outline of the abstract: 1. The abstract begins with a sentence summarizing of the overall topic of the article or paper. 2. This is followed by the problem statement or thesis that the article/paper focuses on. 3. Next, comes the main points or arguments of the article/paper. 4. Last are the results, or the conclusions arrived at. Good luck. Let me know whatever else you need.
