I was writing my riff and my dad randomly started humming it from in the kitchen. Now it is stuck in his head.😂

Awesome video Charlie! Especially the part about composing the melody using a keyboard for less distraction when writing.. that way, notes are leading the inspiration instead of techniques, which you can add afterwards. Very insightful! Please make more videos like this one, it's nice to hear your voice ;)

@aaronstepanik93652 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the lesson! If you are writing a single note riff in a rock or a metal setting, are you still thinking in chords even if you aren't playing chords (or there is no chords in the accompaniment)?
@Pandora_The_Panda2 жыл бұрын
Can't speak for him, but in general, all melodies are written with chords in mind to keep the melody nicely intertwined with the rest of the music, such that it doesn't clash with other instruments, etc.

How is this riff catchy? Just some random notes. It is cool and melodic but it is not catchy at all. Catchy means it has simple melody that is stuck in your head after first listen.

Another great video. Thanks. The chords on the tab tripped me up a little because (please correct me if I'm wrong, I suck) the A#maj7 should probably Bbmaj7 if the key is Dm/F.
