Connected hiragana (sometimes) looks barely decipherable, yet I have no problems writing in connected Cyrillic/Latin script.

Cyrillic or Latin connected script is quite standardized, while Japanese connected script is not. It has rules but has no single standard, so yeah, it's hard to read by today's standard. Also back then, there are so many variants of a single sound, and the dakuten/handakuten often unwritten.

Familiarization is important, the cursive written with brush is rather unhelpful😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
@@夢子-t5q thanks for asking. when i typed, the keyboard didn't give me the kanji right away, and the adjective remained in hiragana. i'm not good enough to recognize all the kanji yet. ありがとうございます‼️

For me, a Westerner, this is beautiful, so different from regular kanji. Please forgive my ignorance, but this makes me think of "cursive for kanji." Or is it a calligraphy style on its own?
