2:29 THANK YOU. My outlines, when I did outlines, WERE in fact the "series of paragraphs" thing, the "synopsis" method. The fact that writing one always turned me off to writing the story proper just alienated me from making actual outlines. That said, I've always known that you need to "know your destination", as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle said. So I always ask myself what the key "moment" in the climax is going to be. I come up with other "moments" that I write out, set at different points. Checkpoints on the map. A de facto "map", just not a formal outline. Obviously, that is NOT a method I recommend to everyone. It's just what I concocted out of desperation over not knowing how to, say, outline in a way that doesn't end my interest in the story after writing it.
