I actually prefer Notability to Goodnotes for school notes. It has more settings and the pens are much easier to control. Especially now that they added 2 dotted line pens which are great for diagrams and arrows. Brush Pen is also way more controllable which is good as I use it for titles. I mainly use Goodnotes for journaling or my agenda or for writing stories as I had a hard time controlling the pens on Goodnotes when I had to write out my notes in class due to the speed. If it's something outside of school where speed isn't a factor then Goodnotes was better for me. Plus being able to add recordings to notes is a big advantage in school
@emilystudying3 жыл бұрын
yes! I totally agree with you about some things! Notability definitely has more pen selection and the brush pen works much better. However, since I'm doing online school, I have not yet once found the need to record a lecture since they're all pre recorded or saved for later.

Had a paper-like protector on my 12.9” iPad Pro. Went through 3 Apple Pencil tips in 6 weeks, dumped the paper-like protector in favour of a 3rd party one. No problems with the new protector. Paper-like is overpriced and not so great. When I’m on the move I use an iPad Mini 5 with the pencil. Really great for taking down quick notes and then it goes into my jacket pocket. Finally a down-to-earth video with actual daily-life tips, thank you so much. ❤️❤️ And I completely agree with you on the iPad sizes: the Mini - but also the regular one - is only for those who only do sporadic casual browsing, streaming or read e-books; if you need to take notes, you cannot get an iPad smaller than, at the very least, the new iPad Air or, better, the iPad Pro 11” as they have the best screen ratio - and the Apple Pencil 2nd gen. is the absolute best for writing (the 1st gen. Pencil is good too, but there’s frankly an abyss with the 2nd gen. one).
@emilystudying3 жыл бұрын
yes! totally agree with you !
@LucienSabre3 жыл бұрын
@Sophiealpes38 I’m not pushing anyone to do anything. I’m just stating facts: the Apple Pencil 1 is not even comparable to the 2nd gen. one when it comes to taking notes, which makes the models the Apple Pencil 2 is compatible with the best tools for writing; the regular iPad may be good for you because you’ve gotten used to it, but objectively its huge borders may be somewhat of a hindrance and make it not the best device to write on.
@mikeclark22485 ай бұрын
Personally I love the iPad mini for note taking. I always preferred A5 notebooks for their portability and that experience is pretty much the same on the mini 6. I am a prolific note taker and journal writer, it always felt awkward writing on my iPad, once I got my mini 6 however I found the experience far better. I would imagine though that a student may prefer the larger screen. My recommendation if you use the mini is to switch scrolling to vertical and swipe to add a bunch of pages before you start writing ( well, if you use Goodnotes anyway)

I’m an attorney who needs to take tons of notes, often including pictures, PDFs, etc. When done, I need to include my notes in emails. Last, typing is slow and clunky on and ipad writing in cursive is the most desirable means of recording notes. GET NEBO!!! I won’t go into every detail, but it’s main feature is its ability to translate the worst cursive handwriting into text INSTANTLY. From there you add, edit text and organize your work while integrating with every app on your system.

I would also add 2 pieces of advice. Try using sports wrist braces, the kind that athletes use to protect their wrists if you will be writing for a long period of time, especially those rated for carpal tunnel. Writing or drawing for hours can get painful on the wrists without them, and I know I am in medical school and spend about 14 to 16 hours a day 7 days a week writing as part of my studies. Using a writers glove can also help keep writing neat preventing sliding on the screen and odd lines while writing. Yes there is palm rejection but it isn't always the best especially if you do a lot of drawing

How did you manage to write on the iPad while lying your hand on the screen? Is it a type of iPad that only works when you write with an apple pen? Or is there a setting to it?

Aw you make me want to study...and I’m done with school. Lol granted not med school it was art school. We didn’t have IPADs or laptops when I was in college back in the early 90s boy it would of been a game changer for sure.
