As we continue in this CNC lathe programming series, this time Marc from @GCodeTutor shows us how he writes roughing cycles using G71.
If we plan on using the same profile for more than one sequence, we can utilize a subroutine and recall it later to save time from writing the same code over and over. Marc demonstrates this by creating a subroutine for the roughing operation that we can later recall when programming the finishing cycle.
When we program the taper on this part, there is a dimension that the drawing does not state. Marc shows us how we can calculate points to plot with G-Code using trigonometry to fully solve the drawing so we can write our program.
The courses from GCodeTutor are generally regarded as one of the quickest ways to learn CNC programming. Find you are not progressing as quickly as you would like in the machine shop? check out his website at gcodetutor.com
