One thing I want to ask, why the gamestate was updated directly, everywhere it is written the one should not update it without the use of state function. Does that affect us in anyway?

In function onItemChanged you are mutating the array directly by assigning the value to the index. I should not work because React will not render this if you are changing it directly instead you should setGameState here, Please correct me if I am wrong ?

with the help of your flat list video i was able to create a whatsapp clone just a UI but heyyy .... its better to do something with knowledge than not using it at all
