A good start. It's quite regrettable, obviously, that there isn't yet a course in this, and a forum, etc. Best practice in writing unmaintainable code must be developed by a consensus-building process bringing in expert practitioners, and industry-wide standards (inconsistent and incomprehensible ones, of course) must be devised. People who merely dabble in producing unmaintainable code are never going to attain the quality of seasoned professionals.

Insist on writing everything in brainfuck. If they won't let you do that, go with C. Just about everything is interoperable with C so you can mix languages to your heart's content.
