For the common app, does my analogy have to be about what I’m majoring in/applying for? I was thinking of doing this dual program for music and science and I had a pretty cool idea for my common app, but it’s about film and science (and it has an analogy)

Not necessarily! There should be some connection to a topic similar to what you're majoring in, but your idea works great since you're talking about science in your essay. Good luck with essay writing!
