8:54 One thing that no one gives credit to is how Youmu's theme fits her straightforward personality & tone especially in the context of the game. The rest of the soundtrack is serene including the boss themes, but Youmu's theme sounds intense right off the bat and closer to boss music you're used to. Hell, with how it's grouped with the especially calm and beautiful Ancient Temple, it plays further into Youmu's dualities.

I really like the literary analysis lens approach to Touhou storytelling, I think it's quite interesting. I always wonder about how intentional ZUN is with a lot of these elements, but if nothing else scrutinizing it with a magnifying glass like this makes clear that regardless of author intent, Touhou's good design elements extend past just "cool music" and "fun characters" alone

There were two cut-ins for just before Resurrection Butterfly, depending on the translation patch you used. Before it was changed to “My life might have ended knowing nothing of my misery, were this a world without the custom of priestly retreat”, it first read “Remembering the melancholy of human existence, even ghosts stray from the path of righteousness”. I like the old one better- it basically outright tells you the reason Yuyuko went bad, that being that she wanted to return to her human life even if she had to kill all of Gensokyo to do so. The new one is obscure and doesn’t make much sense.

"With those Endings done, so ends Touhou 7." You forgot one tiiiiiny detail. There's 2 more Stages after you get the Endings. This is one of the few Touhou Games that gets a Phantasm Stage. An even harder Stage than the Extra Stage, which is already pretty difficult.
