What other places in the world are dealing with over tourism?

Sadly I think Dubrovnik, Croatia has a similar problem!

Yupp I’d agree with that!

Santorini mate! Too many cruise ships coming in and the Small village of Oia cannot cope with the sheer volume of people walking down the overcrowded narrow streets!

Yeah I’ve heard this about Santorini too!

Rome and Florence are also overrun with tourists. It is the food!

Gotta agree about the crowds! I'm currently in Venice as well and find it overwhelming too. But like you said, once you get off those crowds, Venice sure looks amazing!! Those hidden alleyways are the best! Any good spots you found? I'm still looking for good places to visit while still in Venice.

Yeah it’s really busy these months! I honestly just enjoyed wandering in the alleys as far away from the tourist crowds as possible. Just found some more local cafes and bars. Honestly can’t remember any specific names of sights or anything.

Hi there. Interesting video. You mention about the 4 euro per night tax on top of the 5 euro to enter the city. I’m pretty sore from what I’ve read that if you stay overnight you don’t have to pay the 5 euro daily rate too as your overnight tax is paid instead. Hopefully people won’t pay twice. I’m going next March so hoping to avoid the worst of the crowds.

We stayed in Mestre which is just outside the main island and had to pay 4€ per person at the hotel as well as the 5€ entry fee to the island. I think you’re right though that the entry fee is only for people coming for the day.

I am pretty sure that the exemption applies to people who stay anywhere overnight in the city of Venice which includes Mestre. Just for future reference or for anyone who hasn’t visited yet. You just have to show evidence you paid the overnight tourist tax.

My husband were there in May 1996 and it was nothing like this. There were certainly no huge cruise ships plying these waters.

My husband I have been to Venice several times and love finding the quiet places where the tourists do not go! Our favorite city.

Yeah if you can manage to find those escapes it’s incredible
