I think it’s pretty much as simple as map design. Treyarch maps promote movement and make much more sense in an arcade type shooter. Much less verticality and much less head glitches, actually lanes, and spawns make sense. Also sliding should be removed completely, it’s not good for Call of Duty. That’s my take

treyarch is literally the camp fest, ALWAYS has been, Treyarch maps always focus on power positions and the goal essentialy is to get them or die trying. Also 150 health promotes shotguns and snipers heavily, so camping and holding long angles is the best way to get results which people do in Treyarch games. Add overpowered defensive utility and underpowered offensive ones and you get the camp fest that is every Black Ops after BO2. BO2 was the last good game from Treyarch since they didn't go nuts with the casuals focused gameplay.

I think the reason why Treyarch always put out good games and always try to innovate is that they are an actual game developer. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer are both studios that were made to make Call of Duty and have only ever made Call of Duty. Treyarch has a long history and have made a variety of different games such as a lot of Spider-Man games around the PS2 era. Whilst most of the people who worked on the pre-COD Treyarch games are probably long gone, it still demonstrates how Call of Duty needs Treyarch more than Treyarch needs COD - they could go off and make new games if they wanted to (If Activision allowed it) - Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer are all COD - if the series dies, they die. The same thing that applys to Treyarch also applies to Raven too - Raven were meant to make Cold War alongside Sledgehammer until the latter messed everything up and got booted from the project (it's why Mason and Woods are poorly slapped into the Campaign, because the campaign was made by Raven and wasn't meant to have anything to do with Black Ops)

I’m an actual Zombies connoisseur. I thoroughly enjoyed Outbreak. Idk who all said that they didn’t like it but everybody I know enjoyed it. It was a refreshing new thing at the time and I also enjoy MWZ. The easter eggs and boss fights in Outbreak were awesome. If you didn’t like it, you probably have a skill issue

Is cuz people don't know the great Infinity Ward, which they did the first games alongside CoD MW2 (2009). After they were done with MW2, some of the devs. left the company and they were the ones to make Raven Software which today makes great non-CoD games. From CoD MW3 and on-ward it doesn't feel the same because the shining creativite heads of prime Infinity Ward left the studio and the rest of the team just follows a very basic layout compared to when they were in their prime with those creative developers in their team. While in the other hand, Treyarch stayed the same as it did when it began. Why? Well, they didn't demand from Activision more like the creative devs. of Infinity Ward were doing, and so, they remained the same and let them be done with their freedom. So yeah, people don't realize the prime Infinity Ward is long gone whilst Treyarch is still there intact

Infinity Ward became Respawn Entertainment, not Raven Software. There may be some ex-IW people involved with Raven but the direct transition was to Respawn. That said, anyone who played from COD2 to MW2 (and everything in between) could tell you if they were being honest that the IW games just ran way better. Better movement, better hit detection, less ping/lag issues, fewer bugs, and they were typically better balanced as far as maps, weapon loadouts and spawn points/rotation were concerned. With the exception of the Zombies game modes, Treyarch was always on the back foot trying to catch up with IW's games. It felt like Treyarch just threw a bunch of stuff in a blender and served it up whereas Infinity Ward would actually play their games so they could refine the feel of them and guarantee a good player experience. Then the split happened and Activision imported Treyarch personnel to create Sledgehammer to finish MW3 and to no one's surprise...it was kind of ass. Still better than a pure Treyarch title at the time in my opinion, but nowhere near the level of MW and MW2. And that's what we've been left with since MW3: the remnants of the original Infinity Ward's good work being absolutely trounced by the ineptitude of Treyarch and Activision. For that reason I haven't purchased a single COD game since MW3. I've played quite a few since then and while they have improved I will simply never have the confidence in those companies that I had in the original Infinity Ward. The games are only ever as good as the people behind them, and Activision/Treyarch have proven time and time again that they're simply in it for the money.

As software and hardware technology evolves, you would think people would want somewhat of a realistic gaming experience while paying a good amount of money for games/consoles and PCs. According to employee statements MW3 was basically made by IW since SH had to run literally everything by them so this is basically mostly IWs fault anyway. I’m just hopeful for next year because treyarch is making it and they will have had a 4 year timeframe, and the zombies is made by treyarch exclusively since CWZ was originally built by SH and finished by treyarch. I’m also hoping that Microsoft sees the BS launch of MW3 and steps in to tame activision a bit by the time B06/Gulf War/2024 comes out.

I've been saying Treyarch was the superior developer for years. It's great to see people waking up. They forget who made Infinite Warfare and Ghosts. How are you gonna say Infininity Ward is better while Treyarch consistently releases fun games with some of the best campaigns, the best side mode on top of their multiplayer? Black ops 1, 2, and CW were amazing campaigns. Best in the series IMO, especially BO2, with the best villain in the franchise. Raúl Menéndez (RIP Kamar de los Reyes) is by far the best written villain. One you can understand and empathize with to a degree. Not a black and white "we're the good guys and they're the bad guys" but instead a grey area which make for the best villains IMO. The zombies mode alone is a game seller, which should tell you something. No other side mode could hope to achieve the influence and love treyarch zombies gets. The other developers just can't pull it off like treyarch. People just look at the first 3 MW games, and that's all. They say it's the best ever. They don't look at every single release after the original series. It becomes real clear when you really look at who is better. It's pretty clear that treyarch puts real effort and love into their games as well, which shows in their games.

I'd wager that BO4 was worse than cold war. No campaign, didn't touch the multiplayer beyond private matches with bots so I won't rate it's multiplayer, zombies had 2 story lines and decided to focus on the wrong one in my opinion focusing on the chaos story with characters we don't know and don't care about, while with the Aether storyline it was more or less sidelined, didn't get fully animated cutsceens and this was the end of the 10 years we had these characters. Even when I've gone back and played bo4 zombies while I've had fun it was nowhere near as much fun as I've had with cold war.

You realize they don't get to make the decisions anymore right? Activision sees zombies and everything Treyarch does by extension, as a cash cow. That's why they pull them off of projects and give them insane deadlines which make it impossible to give the product they wanted to. Even back in the old days games like BO1 and MW3 were multi million dollar productions. I would be astounded if activision was any less hawkish than it is today. In my own view, Infinity Ward made the better Call of Duty games over the last 15 years. They made their games more realistic, they would catch glitches and bugs way more before they published their games, and they put actual thought into the product they made. Infinity Ward is a big reason why CoD got such a good reputation. Treyarch appeared on the scene and their track record has been absolutely awful. They make bad storylines, their games aren't nearly as realistic and are all fast-paced action and spray and pray gameplay that gwts old quick, and they make a product that is full of glitches, bugs, and problems and have to release at least two dozen patches to fix their clusterfuck of a product. Which even then, some of their patches break other things. Every time I see a CoD game made by Treyarch, I have to wonder what they fucked up on the most recent game, because it's always something that ruins the fun or makes me regret getting the game. New CoD games cost $60. If I'm paying that much, I expect a high quality product that I shouldn't have to get frustrated over because there are glaring issues with the game that Treyarch didn't give enough of a fuck to address and fix.
