1. It is super easy to back them up when you're using RC cars. 2. We do NOT make $85,000 a year LMAO, that's them heavy haulers and stuff. I haul reefers and dry vans, I only make around $52,000 a year, then I can't see my family 40-45 weeks out of the year, and the cost to maintain a rig and fuel prices drive our income into the ground. Edit: I'm out of West Virginia, I probably should've said this first lol, but that's what I TAKE HOME, not what I make. My apologies, everyone. I make around $89,000 a year and take home $52,000 of that, estimates only as it slightly varies each year. I said $52,000 because they made it sound like we rake home $85,000 a year.

I got my cdl at 18. There are alot of miss informed facts in this video. School is about a month long, you need 120 hours training and 12 hours backing practice. You need a valid medical card. You need a license but you dont need "years of experience" just to know the basic driving laws. You need to pass a skills test which includes backing and active driving. You also need to pass a pretrip test to show you can make sure your truck is good to go. 85k a year is higher than most drivers. Expect to make $20-$30 per hour when starting. Get your cdl :)

Not quite. The Federal Government in the US requires 120 hours of CDL School training BEFORE someone can get their CDL let alone a job. Once that's done, not many employers take green drivers as most require so many months of driving experience before they will hire you. You can expect pay on the low end to be close to $50k gross, either hourly or by mile/stop if you go with an employer. Going solo without a company will of course drive the gross pay up but the take home is super low due to expenses (taxes, truck maintenance, fuel, living expenses, etc.).

Unless you're in a small town. Then, its about $45k per year, a couple days of "training", and a few days of back roading experience. The driving test can be pretty easy, but the pretrip can be a pain depending on who's giving the test.

Got my commercial license 8 months ago: You most definitely do not need to park like this on your test. I’m not sure how many hours you “need” but for me it was roughly 150 hours over 6 weeks. That’s class time, practicing parking, and road driving all included, that’s just how long it took. “Several years of driving experience” is nonsense. I only had my regular license for a year and 5 months before I started truck driving school.
@JustinMartin-fo2dj15 күн бұрын
Yeah if it was actually apart of the test we wouldn't have so many truck drivers that cant even drive

@tannerhancock584112 күн бұрын
For CDL tests, it's honestly not super hard. Mine was 3 tests technically. 1) Pre-trip the truck. You have to learn a LOT of parts on the truck, know where they are, and how to tell if something is wrong with those parts. 2) Backing. This was 3 types of backing, Straight backing, Offset backing, then parallel parking. 3) Road test. They take you on a 10-15 min drive around your area to see if you'll notice signs, take more space than you need, and make sure you don't do anything like curb it or such, like a normal test.

I can drive trucks like these, went to school and costed a ton of money, but honestly the worst part of driving isn't the backing (which is for sure stressful for new drivers), but just driving in general. You're constantly on the lookout for bad drivers or people who think they own the road. Brake checkers, reckless drivers, speeders, or people cutting you off while you're going 60 mph. You're basically driving a massive tank that has a very difficult time stopping and the people around you act like you're just another car and show no care to your safety or their own

•You can get your cdl in about 3-4 weeks. •Unless you own your own semi you aren’t making $85,000. You’ll probably start at .35-.40 cents a mile which will get you around 40,000-50,000 depending on how far you’re driving and what you’re hauling.

In America it's $85k (which considering how essential and hard is very low) but here in the UK with all the same requirements you only get £34k a year. That only really beats those working retail whom average £22k assuming if you can always get 40 hour contracts. Most if not all of the time it's only 8 hours now
@Robot-Overlord3 күн бұрын
Lmao none of this is accurate by the way. I was a trucker, aint no way a half decent trucker is messing with some insane parking maneuver, if theyre nice theyre gonna walk into the building, request a supervisor to correct the parking issue with a thinly veiled threat to just up and leave, and is gonna get back to their cab and look at tiktoks for 30 min before he tells dispatch and the expediter that they couldnt accomidate the delivery and leave hoping they get back to the truckyard without getting another trailer hooked on for a quick delivery.

We had guys in my class from the middle east who have never driven before get their CDL. And the hours alone you drive for about 2 hours a day for a week and as long as you can pass you're tests you're good. Honestly I learned more when i was 16 from my half drunk uncle driving his prized rodeo bulls for the rodeo than I did in the 3 weeks I was in the CDL school.

I’m in the Marines now, and planning to get my CDL upon getting out. The “worst” parts I’ve read have included “40-45 weeks away from home” “long hours” and something like 50k annually. There have been multiple occasions where I don’t get weekends, and I work anywhere from 12-18 hours in a single day, get 30 vacation days annually now, but my time off can be denied arbitrarily and I make 40k a year. Tip- if your baseline is dogshit, everything’s an upgrade

This maneuver is called a 90 and it was one of three you had to complete at the time of getting your license, when I was training there was too many students in my group and my trainer didn't have enough time for us to train. I literally learned pre trip by myself, and only got to work on straight line backing and off sets, blind side and site side parallels, other ppl got a chance to work on 90's but my test date was fast approaching. So I got no time to work on it, my trainer took us driving and I learned that but was not confident for the test when it came to 90s. I did my test and failed on a Slb the first time. Came back and got in the lane for the test when your last move is a 90 and I timed out on an off set on the second time. Then the third time I went back I got in the lane for a parallel at the end and I was so nervous because this was my last chance and I made it past the first two tests and said if I pass this last test the parallel I know I could pass the driving part. Thankfully I passed the maneuvers part and couldn't celebrate I was happy but I had to keep my composure until I passed the driving part. I ended up passing and when I did I teared up. I felt my determination paid off. I still felt incomplete when I became a trainee because I never learned a 90. This is the maneuver in the video and it's really used in trucking every day. My mentor was no help either he would micromanage me learning it and was too arrogant because he had a million miles under his belt and clashed with me. I wanted this so bad but so many variables and elements of OTR lifestyle was not for me so I moved on to a different field.

Trucks weigh 80k when they're fully loaded 53 footer. Empty cab/ 53 footer trailer is about 40k. Salary for truck drivers has a massive variance. Big differences between day drivers, yard dogs, sleeper runs/long hauls, trailer size/type, solos vs teams, and commodity they're hauling. Also, it matters they're an owner operator or subcontractor/employed driver, dedicated driver, etc. I get this is a short so cant get every detail right, but for those not in the industry there is quite a bit of incomplete info here
