Neurological disorders such as Parkinson's Disease and essential tremor affect more than 10 million people worldwide. These disorders can impact a person's muscle control, balance and ability to move around.
Dr. Samuel Pichardo, PhD, Dr. Laura Curiel, PhD, and Dr. Sagid Delgado, founders of the Calgary-based medical device company NovusTX Devices, are driven to create therapeutic treatments for movement disorders using ultrasound waves to penetrate the brain and relieve these symptoms non-invasively.
Their new device is still being developed but aims to provide brain stimulation with greater precision and convenience than the technologies currently used in ongoing trials.
NovusTX Devices was one of the first investments by UCeed Neuro,
the University of Calgary's philanthropy-driven fund
dedicated to advancing neuroscience innovation.
