I think it's horrible for any business to ask you for your SS#. Unless it's for Medical or Government situations. NEVER GIVE YOUR SS#. Or Bank or Loan.

You still were uptalking and raised your voice when you said "number" in your improved version [at 1:54] of how you asked for the customer's social security number. Your manager should have told you to say, "I'll need your social security number." It is easier to say those words and make it sound like a statement without the chance of raising your voice at the end.

@@HorshamHector No, it makes it sound like it is routine. Yes they sometimes ask but the customer can always say they won't give it to you. If you ask for it or raise your voice, then you will get more people asking about it.
