Great Walkthrough of the team intention and the types of discussions coaches have with the team. Thanks for this breakdown. That breakdown of the "modern open side/break side" is something I'm definitely looking forward to.

Would be cool to have another video breaking down different countries or teams "styles" and differences that you alluded to this video. ( Speaking as a flick break huck enjoyed myself )

Definitely getting that up on Excel Ultimate as we speak!

You should do one on Rhino. what a run for them

Can you start with beginners series? What is open side? What does it means when you say we were forcing? Etc etc
@jasoncancel489Ай бұрын
Excel definitely should have that in their library

so basically, defense forces a team to either throw with their forehand or backhand. They do that with their "mark" which is the defender guarding the disc. The open side is the part of the field that the defense is trying to get them to throw too. So if im forcing them fore hand, im going to guard the backhand so my other defenders only have to guard the open side and the mark can take away the breakside throw (in this case the back hand)

yep! Excel is currently producing a beginner series to ultimate :)

Hi Rowan, what program do you use to mark up your vid like that? Would love to use something similar for film review with the team I coach. This was such a great strategic breakdown, loved it. Ps. Good luck this wknd!

Maybe if Team Japan knew how to throw the frisbee a 100 different ways, they would have won?

Also, the USA just has a better athletic foundation that most other countries 🤷🏿♂️
@RowanMcDonnellАй бұрын
I think top usa players train / invest more time into their training. tbd on the foundation

@@RowanMcDonnell I totally agree! Also, there are ton of transferable movements from other sports that ultimate players have honed so that gives an advantage
@Mellowyellow8888Ай бұрын
@@sammo00 agreed.. just saw a video from Tobe Decraene.. showing jump cuts.. transferrable skill which many US players already employ (Rowan made video like 2 years ago on this).. I would assume its been derived from wide recievers in american football...
