Sad, indian princes were more in vulgar show off playing polos in europe n fooling around with european women whereas their subjects were poor n deprived of humane living at home. The living standards under princly states were better than the living standards under direct British rule. Despite the fact that the Princes were powerless in most aspects. Indian princes supported Indian businesses and laid foundation to many important institutions which still survive today. Regions that were under Princely rule still lead in many aspects compared to the rest even today.

Read on the princess and their works I have read about 4 princes from Gujarat, Maharashtra mayor and travancor who did things despite British exploitation of them that amazed me.... And we are not taught about them in history at all.... Only Congress and gandhi cover all of modern history with few others here and there....
