Wonderful video and very informative. I moved from NYC to California in 1970 and one of the things I missed most was NYC water.

These unassuming icons of the city, along with all those concrete towers across the land are a novelty for me, living in England. We don't have them here, yet can turn on a tap high up in a skyscraper and the water still pours out!

Also, I knew that tunnel boring is one of the most dangerous jobs, but I was shocked to hear that twenty four people lost their lives in the modern day construction of tunnel no. 3.

"Water pumps are the backbone of maintaining water pressure in tall buildings. These pumps, located in the building’s basement or a dedicated pump room, are responsible for elevating the water pressure to ensure it reaches the upper floors. They compensate for the pressure drop caused by the height of the building." - AI/search engine Also, skyscrapers in NY don't have towers on top of them generally either, but some may keep internal tanks perhaps

If ever fresh clean cool water look soo tempting to drink ,as if I'd just walked out of a desert. That spill way has to be no doubt the best in the world. And that's from a northern brit where rain is never far away, leaves me in Arr. But as for the surrounding rivers and coast, Nothing has changed, more polluted as ever ,toxic, deadly ,but humans and everything else means nothing when it comes to saving a buck or two by corrupt greedy companies and governments.

I guess, but you don't have to go too far to have perfectly swimmable water - and either way, you wouldnt want to drink the river water 200 years ago either

As the source of water up state dries up, what about desalination plants to get water from the ocean? Also, has any of those wooden tanks ever ruptured on top of the roof?
