I never expected that you would get into 3D printing, let alone making your own filament, but I'm impressed! I wish I could help you build your filament extruder a little better haha but you seem to be pretty capable! Can't wait to see how things progress! You can do it!

This is amazing jessie!!! This is some legitimate engineering work and you've done an incredible job working with suboptimal materials and unestablished methods - do yourself a favour and get a printer that can use this filament well, tou deserve that at least!

There’s quite a few KZbinrs using plastic bottles for fillement at the moment

Looks absolutely amazing! I can't believe you actually can make filament out of the plastic bottles 😯 The first thing that I thought of when you showed off your filament maker was to 3d print a part to fortify the part where you pull. You could easily design a frame to go in front of the metal and bolt it down to the wood. Good luck with your project!!!

You can do whats called a "cold pull" heat up thr nozzle in the printer remove with a socket set and while its still hot and you are holding it with plyers you stick another peice of filiment into the nozzle and bond it to the plastic in the nozzle and wait just long enough for it to cool that when you yank on the the filiment it pulls all of the plastic back out and hopefully the dust or gunk in the end, i don't like waiting for things in the mail, ive done it quite a few times because i keep my filiment in a dusty garage lol.

I have the same printer and the hot end clogged but I dried the filament and it stopped clogging, just saying you should try drying the plastic.

As much I like that idea I always got the feeling it's not economic.

Yeah there's a ton of channels that talk about extruding filament from plastic bottles and printing with them And there's several extruder kits as well

the nozzle problim can be fixed by holding the nozzle in some pliers and using a blow torch to incinerate the plastic out. and by replacing the hot end with a all metle one and re flashing fermwair to the cotrol bord you can print at 300 degres and save more money.

Try getting a Bambu Lab P1S. The hotend temperature can reach 300 Celsius, and it’s on sale for 600 dollars instead of 700.

What tool do you use to cut plastic bottles?

First...raise the temp about 3 to 5 degrees...also use gravity to help...instead of pulling sideways change the angle to up and down...gravity will help with the filament coming out

On those elegoos like my neptune 4 plus theres a hole on the side of the extruder that you adjust with a allen key. If its too tight, your nozzle keeps getting clogged. I loosened mine and it stop clogging.

This is really cool, I’m down to help. I was thinking of using an arduino to automate the process. What you did was very cool tbh. I think what you could do is buy a a filament tip that has a wider gap. I have some really cool ideas and can help 🙋🏽‍♂️🙋🏽‍♂️

I actually found you this, kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5yXk5J4eb6CitUfeature=shared, and I was thinking of using an arduino connected to a small motor in order not use a a drill. I think we can do this!!

im sorry to dissapoint you but this has been figured out long time..its all mechanical. You dont need a new printer. Yes you should be proud of yourself but you are killing yourself. instead of your process you just have to shread the bottles. I am absolutely convinced that you can build one for cheap. all you would need is a box...you are going to need some bottles. the is one issue . The plastic used in water bottles are a different type of plastic so to make it easier to print you can add other types of plastics .The shredder will make it easier.I have faith in you. You go girl!!
