i love how he is complaining about hades being an 'ass' when he just doesn't know how to show his love and he thinks that Persephone wants the warmth and light bc she is the goddess of spring and warmth but really she loves the cold and darkness. These two hurt my heart so much

When you know the story, you know how it end, but you still hope that this is gonna finish well ... My favorite version of the end of their story is a nymph hearing Orpheus sing about his lost love, become jealous and kill him. He end in The Underworld, with Hades letting him and Eurydice walk along the styx forever, singing their love and happiness. (Better than the end where the gods keep him alive to get the chance of hearing him sing forever ...)

"What have we got that they should want? We have a wall to work upon" is possibly the most beautiful line in this whole goddamn thing because it suddenly changes the context for everything previous to it in the song. It isn't about keeping out the 'enemy' or the poor, the wall keeps out poverty by giving them meaningless busywork to do for a living. He makes work for idle hands - and that work exists for no real reason beyond keeping those hands from getting idle for too long.

I saw an animatic a little less than two years back. It was a Wait For Me animatic. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. I loved the song and everything about it. I figured, "my friend might enjoy this song." So we were hanging out at Cici's with some friends. I showed the video to my friend. Suddenly, it sparked a huge obsession for her. She listened to Hadestown every single day and was obsessed with Orpheus's story. So yeah. It's been over a year. My friend is still saying that the musical is a bop. I can imagine that these were almost the exact reactions she's had when listening to the soundtrack for the first time. I'd love to say that I'm a hadestown fan myself, but I couldn't get into the soundtrack. The singer who plaed orpheus has an amazing voice though, and even I can't help but bop to Wait for me every time.

I really enjoyed the Broadway version of Hadestown and it definitely deserved to win the tony awards but tbh I prefer the original live version with Damon as Orpheus, Nabiyah as Eurydice and Chris Sullivan as Hermes, and some of the original versions of the songs just sound better to me(especially the Epics) but the Broadway Eurydice is absolutely spectacular
