How we built a Campervan from a new LDV Panel Van | Converting a van into a Campervan

Just about to embark on transforming a near new LDV V80 Bigger van into a camper. I know it’s a time consuming process that has to be done in the right order. I’m planning a kitchen setup similar to yours but a walk through style bed with the table and panel to fill in the gap to make the bed as it gives more room during the day when sitting at the table etc. I’ve got a toilet that meets the new freedom camping regulations and the costs soon add up on a project like this. Hope you guys are enjoying life back in the Uk. 😀

Hey guys this is great and my idea too. Any regrets or things you’d change? Also I couldn’t quite work out where you put the wet area? And was the window steric size or adjustable. It looks great. Top job you two.

Hi Thanks for taking the time to view our video and raise a comment We don’t have any regrets and don’t think we would change anything either The “wet” area was a working progress but was situated behind the drivers seat next to the kitchen The rear windows were standard on the van but the side window was an off the shelf item, a guy in Hamilton stocked them They did have an opener to let some air in. What product did you use to stick the carpet on?

Hi It was an aerosol can of tack adhesive for carpets but the extra strong one

How’s your LDV after 2 years? Any issues with the van?

Hi Unfortunately we no longer have the ldv We live in U.K. and our son lived in NZ which is where we had the LDV When Covid came my wife and I got the last flight out of NZ My son stayed for a further 12no the but due to the harsh NZ Covid rules he decided to come back to U.K. therefore sold the van We had no issues with it during our owner It was a great little van Thanks for spending the time to watch our video and for you comment too Cheers

Hi No we have just sold the LDV in New Zealand The Southern Hemisphere LDV looks so much better than the U.K./European versions We loved ours

I’m converting an LDV Bigger van at present and expect it will be $10,000 plus to build it to a high standard. I’ve fitted a fan roof vent and fully insulated it with both 25mm foam panels in the roof and 75 mm knauf insulation in the doors and all cavities. I’ve lined the roof and walls with caravan ply and plan to fit a solar panel. I bought the kitchen bench only, as a kit set from Van Lab and plan to build my own bed/table set up.

Hi We have since sold the LDV We are in U.K and the LDV was left with our son in NZ However because of COVID our son decided to return to the U.K. so the van had to go It was great though just about the right size

Hi thanks for the question Yes we sold the van in January as our son was moving back to the U.K. The LDV was a great van, a real eye catcher, always someone asking about it Really good value too

How tall are you mate? Just trying to work out if I can get away with the same bed orientation. I'm 6' and worried about it being a bad sleep if it's not quite wife enough.

Hi thanks for taking the time to watch our video and also the communication too I’m 5’9” and I’m fine it would be a shame if you couldn’t have a transverse bed as it would ‘eat’ into the length of the van
