Another great talk! The book “Hospicing Modernity” is one I highly recommend to anyone thinking about the survival of our precious planet and all who inhabit it.

Vanessa Andreotti's collective is really amazing. Besides the book Hospicing Modernity and the project University of the Forest, there is the online course "Facing Human Wrongs".

Thank you for introducing me to this interesting perspective. We know what is "wrong " and continue to expect others to do something about it. We all have dreams. We can share our visions of a different way of living together with all life and support each other to take steps towards them. The small steps we take, the small changes we make, make a difference. They won't always be perfect. We make mistakes, it's how we learn a new way. Focusing on the things we can do and doing them reduces the anxiety of how big the "problem " is and moves the powerlessness to action. xxx

wow the whole "cheap flights" thing is really true. I have a nephew who has traveled the world as a tourist. He doesn't have a high paying job either. It's pretty mind blowing.

If we ended the war machine we could all fly cheaply. Not just for typical holiday but a way to support other struggling cultures that are facing this crisis and losing dearly.

Thank you Rachel and Sunil Amrith. When start watching this video and see you introduce professor in Yale. I think of another one I recently know, Timophy Syander. I guess Sunil Amrith also know him even Timophy Syander seemed focusing in other areas. Thank you again for Sumil Amrith for sharing your knowledge and insights. However, I am reserved about the idea of Communism. I do view that extreme right or left is dangerous, human being are not perfect, there are a lot of consequences. In my view, the way of humanity, and match reality and nature is essential. How our species and others survive and live better , not fighting each others is really the key.

Pushing back on "power corrupts", I notice how corruption subjugates and objectifies. "Corruption" not as respite through decay, but grasping decadance in horror to decay.

Takeaway of this great conversation would be a paradox: we all are longing for a safety, security, sheltering and to have that we are using explosion, not just a fire but explosion literally. Guns and bombs are exploding and giving security for a 'stronger' ones of us, at a same time billions of expolsions happening in a second around the globe when we are driving internal combustion engined cars to buy an icecream or groceries. We are living now because of the explosion.

@@wailinburnin Yes, its all about the energy transformation or say 'entropy' perhaps. I am not a scientist nor clever, but I can not find the answer what 'entropy really means. In this Planet critical conversation again Rachel alluded that 'entropy is kind of waste. But i tend to see it differently. To have an emerging balance of the universe the Incoming Sun's energy is and must be transformed, diminished some how or balanced out, or stored. Tree is growing due to the pfotosynthesis; man forges the metal using fossil (stored Sun's) energy. There is a generational and lenghty process until man makes an axe; One day man eats well the food grown well under the sun and he goes to the woods and cuts the tree in to the boards; man then have a dreams about OTYKEN and he sweats but still makes the small boat out of these boards and also two oares; One day man eats well again, his mitochondria still works well because he is still young; man drags and pulls the boat through the asphalt of the road and then through the sand of the ocean shore when finally he can row the boat and to stop and play guitar and sing that he has another dream simply to gave a chilled glass of beer with the imaginate friend. Fossil to vibration of the guitar strings. SO we have a beautyful Sun's energy transformation gradient from direct sun or from fossil until the vibration of the strings of the guitar ----- That is what I think the 'entropy is, it is an energy gradient and all the living on earth is hooked up obligatory to participate in it. Purpose being: emerging balance of the universe. But then Imagine that there are 8 or 9 billion of humans and when they do not slowing down dreaming, imagine how much energy they need! And here comes a dynamite to the resque and all that explosive stuff to 'have a dream and to make it real fast fast fast:))

Wow, learnt so much today about things I should always have known about. Knew about Brazil, literally nothing about Indonesia. Other than East Timor I don't think any other news from Indonesia broke into the mainstream in the 70s n 80s. Don't mention COP!!!

There are sound practical reasons why wars exist. How do you think people get their food from? By taking it from the environment. And what happens if there isn't enough food, resulting in population pressure, how should the parties involved resolve that struggle? By hugging? Or, some agree to starve?

All we need is Love (Beatles) ... well that didn't work out as planned. Maybe all we need is intellect. LaTaDaDaDa.. The human game continues, seemingly magnified with new tools. If man would just realize he isn't God, but maybe just a part of all that is...

*Wait & See* The old couple walked past the window Where their pub use to be. Looking at the Daily Menu, it was there for All to see, His hand on her shoulder, he offered Tenderly; Care to go inside My Love, and maybe Have a seat? She replied with Love in her eyes saying, Regretfully: Oh it's dear, so dear for folks like you and me. And the Future's uninviting, so I guess we'll have to see. Lessons are learned and the days are burned, except the memory. All lies aside, There'll be nowhere to hide From this tragedy. If there's Time we can finally shine, like the Starlight that are We. But the Future's uninviting so I guess we'll Hope and see. Will you look at me in the mirror, And tell me what can be? Wonder how to describe a soul that's sold And face Eternity? But it was living a lie and not seeing why, that was the death of you and me. And it's clear, so clear, to folks like you and me. That if the Future's uninviting as far as we can see. And it's dear, so dear for folks like you and me. Cause the Future's uninviting as far as we can see. Yeah it's clear so clear, that now it's meant to be, That the Future's been decided because of wait and see. -TgoD

why do you think that is? why it happens according to my opinion would involve looking into how decisions are made. what influence does nature have in the making of decisions in the so called technosphere?
@heatseekingsandle8 күн бұрын
and yes it's male culture because the technosphere basically incentives masculine values, and that's why see woman uptaking them..
