I still record things onto cassette believe it or not these days. I do like MP3s, but still enjoy transferring songs onto tape. I do have a very modern Steepletone hi-fi system with record deck and cassette deck with USB et cetera. The cassette deck has terrible sound quality on recording but thankfully there are RCA outputs On the back so I can connect it to my high quality Marantz three head cassette deck. It gives a much better AC bias recording as the Steepletone is DC bias which gives a distorted and hissy recording. Of course you have to set the recording level manually with an external deck. Thank you for the video and your demonstration.

Thank you for sharing. I do that myself to backup my records and to condense thrift shop records and order the tracks in a way I would prefer. I'd often pick them up real cheap, sometimes there are tracks that overlap or there are some that I just don't like, so I feel like I am in control when I compile cassettes. Sure, one can do it with CDs but the tactile nature, the trick of the fingers is gone. I love my dad's old cassettes. They were recorded on a Sansui SC-3000 sourced from a Bush BSR style idler turntable with a ceramic cartridge. Sure, not audiophile, but it sounded good and the decks were considered great gear for the 1970s.

I dont have all that fancy equipment, I would just like to see a way to play a record player in a quiet room with a separate portable cassette recorder and see/hear if the sound comes out good on cassette tape........

Hey Paul I’m just curious when the track is finished do you just hit pause and that’ll stop the recording? How do you que up another record with a different song without taking the tape out ??

As you said, hit pause, que the next track and resume. Simples! 😝

is it possible to do vice versa?

Not without specialist record cutting equipment I would think.

From where did you get blank cassettes?

I bought them off eBay.

Has anyone done a direct venal with line out direct to cassette recorder? My new Yamaha amp has no line out for cassette but my turntable has a built in preamp? Has anyone tried it at all. Thanks

No idea mate and, to be honest, don’t really know what you are asking as I’m not a tech person. Just know the basics.
