Common Farm Flowers

Күн бұрын

Flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery of Common Farm Flowers goes cutting for a wholesale order and has a chat about how different this kind of work is to her usual retail bouquet work. It's worth thinking about what kind of flower farmer you want to be - after all, there are many different ways to earn a living growing flowers, and it's unlikely you can do everything. Have a follow along and while it's British Flowers Week have a think about ways that artisan growers in the UK may be working in a post-pandemic/post-Brexit/oil-crisis world.
If you enjoy the tips and tricks Georgie gives you here, the link to her Buy Me a Coffee page is Here: You can buy me a coffee here www.buymeacoff...
You can book to join the sowing biennial workshop here (if you can't join live we send you the recording afterwards): www.commonfarm...
You can book to join the Rose Workshop here (again, we send the recording afterwards if the time isn't convenient to you): www.commonfarm...
And if you'd like to join Georgie on any of her other summer floristry workshops do have a look at the calendar here and book your place: www.commonfarm...

Sitting back, exhausted from gardening in the heat, seeing your beautiful farm and listening to your sage advice is soothing and reassuring ~ as I forge a head in my second year of this. I can’t wait to have the beautiful established rows of roses and shrubs and babies, as you do! A Lovely video

Can’t imagine you doing anything that’s not perfection! Any wholesaler that buys from you will get a product that is as close to perfect as is humanly possible. I don’t know many people that take as many pains as you do to make sure your clients receive value for their money. I’m sure you will be successful in this new venture should you decide to go for it. Your friend in South Carolina believes in your new integrity and good heart.

Love your videos! I’m interested in selling stems to florists but from a very modest plot… less than 100 stems. Not sure this is reasonable. How do you determine how many stems you should have available, at minimum? Thx!
@theflowerfarmer
@theflowerfarmer Жыл бұрын
talk to the florists you plan to sell to and see what they'd like - if you have a small space grow greater value per stem that's my biggest tip.

_What kind of flower farmer are you?_ I'm turning out to be a rabbit flower food grower... _You can always tell where I am, if you listen for the rattle of the trolley._ Lol it sounds like you're a ghost. On some cool summer evenings you can hear the faint rattling echo of her trolley as if she were still tottering about the garden. _There's my falling down barn_ Didn't you say your mother-in-law lives in the barn 😨? How's your bare root roses you planted? I planted a few, and they are pretty sad looking. Something I've come to realize is that a lot of tasks take way more time than I imagined, like cutting. "Surely it can't take that long to cut a bunch of stems," I thought. Ha.
