How We Got Pregnant | LIVE IUI | Lesbian Couple

The journey of how we got pregnant as a lesbian couple including our LIVE IUI is finally here!! We share all from who would be pregnant, selecting a sperm donor, and our experiences - what worked and didn't work for us. We were very fortunate to have our first IUI success. While there is information out there on finding sperm donors and IUI, we didn't find much in regards to peoples experiences the process as a whole. Friends, family, acquaintances, and our amazing youtube supporters have all asked about our TTC journey and we are happy to share. Getting pregnant is more complicated than we imagined as timing, especially with frozen sperm, is CRITICAL!!

I've been TTC for 4 years, and I've had 9 IUI. And I can absolutely, wholeheartedly, agree with you when you say to get comfortable with OPK before you start. I've used the Amazon ones, and it's less scary from a financial standpoint when you test a buttload of times(I do that too, testing every time I pee.)

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been doing a lot of research since my wife and I will be doing iui sometime soon. We’ve tried at home but all of them have been unsuccessful. I’ve heard a lot of people say they did things to help with iui, did you feel you needed to change anything or do anything to help with the success of the iui? I appreciate your videos! Thanks for talking about the process! So that soon there are more of us 😊 I am 24 and love two moms 🥰 With me it was more a coincidence, but my donor represents my mummy in many ways... Which is funny, because most people think that she is my biological mother, as I look a lot more like her than my mum.. At the end of the day it doesn't really make a difference though 😊 neither for me nor for my parents... I love them just the same 😍

It really doesn't matter, not for me at least... But it came handy at times... As my mommy, didn't have legal parental rights for me my whole childhood... , adopting kids from your same-sex partner is just legal for 4 years in our country... So there were situations where it was very important for us...

Yes, like it should be!!!! IUI for lesbian couples is legal in our country since 1 year and both mums are on the birth certificate 😊 But we are talking 24 years ago, I am living proof that other methods work too 🤣😅

That's awesome! Good for you. There are a ton of banks out there so its really a personal decision based on what you want to know about the donor and obviously what kinds of characteristics you want in a donor. I would start with a general google search and see if you find some you like!

It really depends on personal preference, how much and what kind of information you want. The best suggest is to look at several, learn about them and find what vest suites you.

So when we tried it ourselves, I never got peak ovulation days. When a doctor did it, we used Clomid and Ovidrel (trigger shot) to help timing and the release of an egg.

This is the best method: ROPA (RECEPTION OF OOCYTES FROM PARTNER). This method allows the two women to be an active part of the reproductive process. One of the women undergoes ovarian stimulation and provides the eggs that are transferred to her partner, who will carry the baby for 9 months and give birth.

But the baby would still be from the partner biologically

The embryo will not inherit genetic characteristics of the gestational carrier mother but its development in the uterus will uniquely determine the genetic activity and influence aspects as different (and important) as, for example, the child’s level of protection to certain diseases".

This is reciprocal IVF. Its invasive, and incredibly expensive. For some families, direct genetic involvement isn't important. And if it's not, then why go through the difficulty and strain of IVF just to have that? The best method is the one that works for the family involved.
