Just google "happiest countries" and "highest social equality". Iceland scores 4th and 1st. North west Europe kills it here cause of education, social equality, health care. I mean every single scandinavian country is in the top 10. Pretty content Dutchy here though in no. 5. :)

@@achnix3167 Cheers from Amsterdam! :D So for the "there's barely any people living there" andy's, netherlands is top 5 and one of the most densely populated countries on earth. Also most of the people in these scandinavian countries live in highly populated urban areas. Low population density = happiness is objectively false since the vast majority of happy people in these countries live in densely populated areas.

@@zigisamblak What I have been experienced in the Netherlands, people are not living that packed there. There is people everywhere, but they are quite scarsely spread around the country. Love that Árný is confused about ‘Nephew’, ‘Cousin’ and ‘Uncle’ in English - I am learning Icelandic and ‘Frændi’ confused me too - for the exact opposite reason I guess!
@AtlasBlizzard3 жыл бұрын
It's because in Icelandic there are no different words to differentiate. It's always "frændi" (male) or "frænka" (female).
@newawkward98033 жыл бұрын
I'm learning Icelandic too! Do you want to talk about the language and some books/sources to studying it?
@julianamagg31773 жыл бұрын
We do have names for uncle and nephew but frændi just means a male relative that is not your father, son or brother (or in straight line up like grandfather) and frændi is just used more (and frænka for a female relative). It confuses Icelanders endlessly when speaking English and foreigners learning Icelandic. Uncle is föðurbróðir or móðurbróðir (father's brother or mother's brother). Aunt is föðursystir or móðursystir. Nephew is systursonur or bróðursonur (sister's son or brother's son) and niece is systurdóttir or bróðurdóttir.
@Anno_Al3 жыл бұрын
@@AtlasBlizzard that's so interesting because in swedish we specify even more specifically than in English, for example farbror (father's brother) and mormor (mothers mother) so I was always confused by English like "okay so how do people know if you're talking about your dad mom or your moms?"

The hand gesture isn’t from The Roop originally ! The ‘V’ part of it is from Star Trek and is known as the Vulcan Salutation that Spock (Leonard Nimoy) used to greet others - it first appeared in 1967 (2 years before I was born). The ‘E’ part, I have no idea on except that I was taught this (and the ‘V’ part) as an exercise in typing class in the 1980’s - it was supposed to help teach you to keep your fingers in alignment in order to keep your fingers on the home keys. No good in my case because my little fingers have always had ‘a mind of their own’ and stick out at odd angles when I try to type (I can only use 3 fingers on each hand even now, but I type just as fast as anyone else !) and when I do the ‘E’ part, my Index and little fingers move further backwards (splay upwards with palms down); my left little finger also gets stuck and I can’t bend it without forcing the tendon back in place ! It sounds painful but it’s something I’ve had all my life so it doesn’t bother me too much !

@@GossipGirl770 I disagree; many language have far stricter rules. Spoken English can be relatively easy to learn to a certain extent (partly because it's so widely used in the media), but getting it right in all circumstances is very difficult because there are so many exceptions to the rules.
